May Allah peace and blessing be with the person who developed this site which we discuss issues like this on.

Their brothers and sister, Muslims and Christians alike. Why don’t we need to learn but rather just judge from what our minds or any other person have told us ?

Its about time we study other religions not to actually be like them, but to know what they believe so as to serve guard our self. Majority of other religious leaders do quote from the Bible, the Quran and from other books to make a point. Why can’t we be like them when discussing religious issues ? We must not judge blindly on what we know not.

If God want we can all be Christians or Muslims but He did that not. Can you tell me who was created by a different kind of God rather than the Almighty God ? To God all humans are equal but our deeds in this world shall make us greater than one another in the hereafter.

Let us always face the fact and don’t mind to learn from others because the kingdom of God is not belong to any creature but the Lord Almighty, not even our Prophets. Remember that, Jesus, Mohammed, Ibraham, ,Moses were all sent to man by God so that we may be thought to know who God is and how to win the favour of God when the end time comes.

Alhaji or Alhaja or Hajia is not a title but a word in Arabic which means “Stranger”. If you are a male, you are male stranger to the Arabs (Alhaji). If you are a female, you are female stranger to the Arabs (Alhaja or Hajia). Just like the English words HE and SHE

Even if you are not a Muslim but you visit Mecca you will be referred to as Alhaji or Alhaja just to note other Arabs for good services or good treatments when the need arises. Muslims are thought to treat strangers in a special manner so they use this word just to prompt their fellow brothers for a nice and interesting service. You know we may say strangers are people who have no father, mother or a relative in some body land, therefore they must be helped or be assisted in any incase.

But we continue to referred to them as Alhaji or Alhaja in Africa or in some part of the world not for a title but to prompt other Muslims or non Muslims that, the person has visited Mecca before for the fulfillment of God’s command. Therefore note that, Muslims who visit don’t just go to visit, but to fulfill God’s command.

These are the verses (in sequence) that deal with Hajj (Pilgrimage) in the Quran.

[22:27.8] "And proclaim that the people shall observe Hajj pilgrimage. They will come to you walking or riding on various exhausted (means of transportation). They will come from the farthest locations."

[2:125] We have rendered the shrine (the Kaba) a focal point for the people, and a safe sanctuary. You may use Abraham's shrine as a prayer house. We commissioned Abraham and Ismail: "You shall purify My house for those who visit, those who live there, and those who bow and
prostrate."

[2:158] The knolls of Safa and Marwah are among the rites decreed by GOD. Anyone who observes Hajj or `Umrah commits no error by traversing the distance between them. If one volunteers more righteous works, then GOD is Appreciative, Omniscient.

[2:189] They ask you about the phases of the moon! Say, "They provide a timing device for the people, and determine the time of Hajj." It is not righteous to beat around the bush; righteousness is attained by upholding the commandments and by being straightforward. You shall observe GOD, that you may succeed.

[ 2:196] You shall observe the complete rites of Hajj and `Umrah for GOD. If you are prevented, you shall send an offering, and do not resume cutting your hair until your offering has reached its destination. If you are ill, or suffering a head injury (and you must cut your hair), you shall expiate by fasting, or giving to charity, or some other form of worship. During the normal Hajj, if you break the state of Ihram (sanctity) between `Umrah and Hajj, you shall expiate by offering an animal sacrifice. If you cannot afford it, you shall fast three days during Hajj and seven when you return home - this completes ten -provided you do not live at the Sacred Masjid. You shall observe GOD, and know that GOD is strict in enforcing retribution.

[2:197] Hajj shall be observed in the specified months. Whoever sets out to observe Hajj shall refrain from sexual intercourse, misconduct, and arguments throughout Hajj. Whatever good you do, GOD is fully aware thereof. As you prepare your provisions for the journey, the best provision is righteousness. You shall observe Me, O you who possess intelligence.

[2:198] You commit no error by seeking provisions from your Lord (through commerce). When you file from `Arafaat, you shall commemorate GOD at the Sacred Location (of Muzdalifah). You shall commemorate Him for guiding you; before this, you had gone astray.

[ 2:199] You shall file together, with the rest of the people who file, and ask GOD for forgiveness. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

[ 2:200-201] Once you complete your rites, you shall continue to commemorate GOD as you commemorate your own parents, or even better. Some people would say, "Our Lord, give us of this world," while having no share in the Hereafter. [2:201] Others would say, "Our Lord, grant us righteousness in this world, and righteousness in the Hereafter, and spare us the retribution of Hell."

[ 2:203] You shall commemorate GOD for a number of days (in Mena); whoever hastens to do this in two days commits no sin, and whoever stays longer commits no sin, so long as righteousness is maintained. You shall observe GOD, and know that before Him you will be gathered.

[ 3:96-97] The most important shrine established for the people is the one in Becca; a blessed beacon for all the people. In it are clear signs: the station of Abraham. Anyone who enters it shall be granted safe passage. The people owe it to GOD that they shall observe Hajj to this shrine, when they can afford it. As for those who disbelieve, GOD does not need anyone.

[5:1] O you who believe, you shall fulfill your covenants. Permitted for you to eat are the livestock, except those specifically prohibited herein. You shall not permit hunting throughout Hajj pilgrimage. GOD decrees whatever He wills.

[ 5:2] O you who believe, do not violate the rites instituted by GOD, nor the Sacred Months, nor the animals to be offered, nor the garlands marking them, nor the people who head for the Sacred Shrine (Ka'ba) seeking blessings from their Lord and approval. Once you complete the pilgrimage, you may hunt. Do not be provoked into aggression by your hatred of people who once prevented you from going to the Sacred Masjid. You shall cooperate in matters of righteousness and piety; do not cooperate in matters that are sinful and evil. You shall observe GOD. GOD is strict in enforcing retribution.
[5:94] O you who believe, GOD will test you with some game within reach of your hands and your arrows (during pilgrimage). GOD thus distinguishes those among you who observe Him in their privacy. Those who transgress after this have incurred a painful retribution.

[5:95] O you who believe, do not kill any game during pilgrimage. Anyone who kills any game on purpose, his fine shall be a number of livestock animals that is equivalent to the game animals he killed. The judgment shall be set by two equitable people among you. They shall make sure that the offerings reach the Ka'ba. Otherwise, he may expiate by feeding poor people, or by an equivalent fast to atone for his offense. GOD has pardoned past offenses. But if anyone returns to such an offense, GOD will avenge it. GOD is Almighty, Avenger.

[5:96] All fish of the sea are made lawful for you to eat. During pilgrimage, this may provide for you during your journey. You shall not hunt throughout the pilgrimage. You shall reverence GOD, before whom you will be summoned.

[9:2] Therefore, roam the earth freely for four months, and know that you cannot escape from GOD, and that GOD humiliates the disbelievers.

[9:36] The count of months, as far as GOD is concerned, is twelve. This has been GOD's law, since the day He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred. This is the perfect religion; you shall not wrong your souls (by fighting) during the Sacred Months. However, you may declare all-out war against the idol worshipers (even during the Sacred Months), when they declare all-out war against you, and know that GOD is on the side of the righteous.

[9:37] Altering the Sacred Months is a sign of excessive disbelief; it augments the straying of those who have disbelieved. They alternate the Sacred Months and the regular months, while preserving the number of months consecrated by GOD. They thus violate what GOD has consecrated. Their evil works are adorned in their eyes. GOD does not guide the disbelieving people.

[ 22:26-27] We appointed Abraham to establish the Shrine: "You shall not idolize any other god beside Me, and purify My shrine for those who visit it, those who live near it, and those who bow and prostrate." And proclaim that the people shall observe Hajj pilgrimage. They will come to you walking or riding on various exhausted (means of transportation). They will come from the farthest locations."

[22:28-29] They may seek commercial benefits, and they shall commemorate GOD's name during the specified days for providing them with livestock. "Eat therefrom and feed the despondent and the poor." They shall complete their obligations, fulfill their vows, and visit the ancient shrine.

[ 22:33] The (livestock) provide you with many benefits for a period, before being donated to the ancient shrine.

[ 22:36] The animal offerings are among the rites decreed by GOD for your own good. You shall mention GOD's name on them while they are standing in line. Once they are offered for sacrifice, you shall eat therefrom and feed the poor and the needy. This is why we subdued them for you, that you may show your appreciation.

[48:27] GOD has fulfilled His messenger's truthful vision: "You will enter the Sacred Masjid, GOD willing, perfectly secure, and you will cut your hair or shorten it (as you fulfill the pilgrimage rituals) there. You will not have any fear. Since He knew what you did not know, He has coupled this with an immediate victory."

FOCUSED123, I could see how short minded you are. So you didn't even realized that Arabic language has different versions. Just like our English language. I don't know FOSUED123 whether you have an idea about how Americans called some things as compare to UK.

Can you tell me the particular Arabic country that call strangers you explained ? And do you have an idea about the Arabic country that call strangers Alhaji ?

In my first post I warned people like you to rather study and just stop making unnecessary noise. Have respect for your fellow human beings and learn to use nice words in all your undertaken.

I will never call you an idiot because you are created and fashioned into a full human being by God and I must respect that. There are different type of Arabic languages FOCUSED123. You need to study. You need to travel and never stay in a narrow area that you are now, to just let people know how smelly your mouth can be.

STUDY OOOOO FUSED123 STUDY.

I don't know whether you even know your name. Well if you don't know your name let me tell you. You are called HUMAN BEING but can you tell me why your father did not just call you human being but decided to give you name ? Class Test for you FOCUSED123.

But if you don't know since I know you don't know why, then people who visited Mecca are given the name Alhaji for a reason.

All thanks is due to God almighty the master of the day of judgment.

at best the christians will go to "heaven", and no "PARADISE" for them. it is already forbidden for them and they forbid it for themselves, instead choose heaven.

osisi will "proof" that muslims will go to hell before going to paradise. what she cant proof is that muslims as a nation will be punished in there, where as i will proof to her that chrsitians will be punish, as a nation in hell, and muslims as a nation will watch from Jannah!

you wanna be punish woman? continue in your chrsitian ways!

Hijr and Hajj have the same foundamental origin; spiritual travel.

Alhaji

`Alhaji` or `Al-Hajj` is a term of respect used to address a Muslim man who has completed one of the Five Pillars of Islam by going on the Hajj, or religious pilgrimage to Mecca. A woman who has completed the pilgrimage is addressed as Alhajia. Category:Arabic words and phrases (Culled from On-Line Encyclopedia) This put a end to this ignorance!!!!

Found on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alhaji

In order that we do not destroy ourselves in ignorance, my Christian (and Muslim) brothers please seek for knowladge so you may not judge in ignorance and incure the wrath of Allah (God). the explanation below was culled from Wikipedia (Please refere) and will educate our Christians brothers including some less informed Muslims alike to do more research before making conclusions on any sensitive issues in future. Salam, Shalom,

Hajji (Persian: حاجی, Arabic: الحجّي‎ al-ḥajjī or الحاج al-ḥājj, Greek: Χατζής, Bulgarian: Хаджия, Bosnian: Hadži, Belarusian: haberythr, Turkish: Hacı, Hausa: Alhaji, pilgrim; Sometimes spelled Hadji or Haji), Alhaji (in Northern Nigeria and surrounding areas), or El-Hajj, is an Honorific title given to a Muslim person who has successfully completed the Hajj to Mecca,[1] and is often used to refer to an elder, since it can take time to accumulate the wealth to fund the travel. The title is placed before a person's name (For instance John Smith becomes Hajji John Smith). It is derived from the Arabic al-Ḥājj, which is the active participle of the verb ḥajja 'to make the pilgrimage to Mecca'.
The alternative form ḥajjī is derived from the name of the Hajj with the adjectival suffix -ī, and this was the form adopted by non-Arabic languages. In some areas, the title has been handed down the generations, and has become a family name. Such usage can be seen, for example, in the Bosniak surname Hadžiosmanović, which means 'son of Hajji Osman'.

Women who complete the Hajj are referred to as Hajjah or الحاجة al-Ḥājjah.[2], or (in Hausa/Fulani) Hajiya.

The term is also used in the Balkan Christian countries that were once under Ottoman domination (Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, Montenegro, Macedonia and Romania) for a Christian who had traveled to Jerusalem and the Holy Lands.[3]

In Cyprus, where for centuries Christians and Muslims intermixed freely and Jerusalem is conveniently local, the title became so prevalent as to be permanently integrated into some Greek Christian family names, such as Hajiioannou, regardless of any lack of qualification.

Spelled either hajji or haj, it is used as a comprehensive term for Iraqis or Middle Eastern people in general, similar to the term Jerry during World War I and World War II.[4][5]

As you ALL (Muslims & Christians alike) can see from the detailed explanation above the term Haj,Hajj,Hajji,Alhaji el al. is not what people term it to be , the Arabic word for stranger or foreigner is Ghareeb please you can confirm this as well in Wikipedia or encyclopedia. This is an age of information technology and we all have access to internet to make our research and not rely on guess work.
Lets be guided accordingly and READ so we can LEARN, May the Peace and Blessing of Almighty Allah (God ) be with us all.
Re: Why The Titles Alhaji And Alhaja? by Barryidris: 7:35am On Jul 20, 2015
I am a muslim and always wonder why should we called our selves Alhaji and Hajia? First of all this is a sacred journey between one and his or her Lord, so why showing off with it? why don't the Arabs use it? It is one's own interest to keep his or her holly journey to him or herself and wait for Allah to give the reward on the judgment day, instead of going out to show off with it. unless one did the hajj for something different than what Allah has recommended us to do as Muslims. I a lot of people are doing it as a result of ignorance, but it is time for people to be educated so that they will understand what is the meaning of this haji, hajia thing. May Allah guide us all and protect us from these kind of ignorance.
