Long read but I'm sure you can learn one or two things from here.
You're going to work, lectures, shopping, visit a friend, a date, wedding or any event - little is more!
Reserve the dramatic makeup for the runway and movie scenes and days you are crying for attention!

1. Eye shadow: If you're not looking to bring attention to your face, go easy on this.
A. Apply colours that look good on every skin tone (peach, brown, black, plum, pin) minimally. Dab and apply. It's easier to build coverage than remove it.
B. Play around with shades of brown (beige, cream, nude, deep brown). Deep skin tone women can skip this step
C. Avoid or tone down overly warm or cool colours (red, blue, green). They scream attention.
D. For the perfect eye shadow, combine a base shade (one shade lighter than your skintone), the midtone shade (one shade darker), the contour shade on outer corner of eye (eg black or deep brown) and the glitter shade (if needed).

2. Foundation:

You do not have to apply foundation everyday. If you have to, then use natural looking foundation with good coverage and natural feel. Apply with fingers and violà!
Consider Tom Ford (quite expensive) and Charlotte Tilbury.

Do ask a good makeup pro to help you decide your shade, if you're to do it yourself - match with your neck. Remember you might have to make changes in foundation shade with seasonal changes.

3. Concealer:

You could forget this!! Unless you have under-eye bags from lack of sleep. A good foundation will replace this easily.

4. Lipstick:
I'm tired of seeing ladies with shade of red as though they drank red oil - stop it. Apply, dab with finger to remove excess, blot if possible.
Trust me, you'd look beautiful with less on the lip. Same with applying lip gloss, your lips should not be glossier than silk.

5. Eyelash:

Skip this and replace with mascara if you are going for a simple look, or use faux-cils that are medium in size. Remember you can also get eyelash extensions (Google for more info) so you dont bother about fixing lashes daily. Eyelash extensions are beautiful and natural looking.

6. Bronzer/Contour:

You can do either of the two or none (but never both). Remember to go easy on the brush.

7. Blush:

I know you probably have a pink blush right now but have you considered peach colour? Really astonishing.

remember we live in the hot humid naija weather, if you apply everything excessively, you sweat it all too.

Dont forget to take care of your skin (in a dermatologist or spa) and invest in quality makeup products.
Finally, real beauty comes from the heart and not the face.
