I don't pity Nigeria,it is turn by turn. That year when we were sending Ghanaians home,if they told us that a day would come when Ghana will reject Nigerians with much alacrity and impunity,we would not believe it. Is it only Ghana? no is the answer. We are being rejected all over the globe. An average Nigerian in this generation believes that it is justfiable to make money even if you desecrate another man's country.

Either you're a kid or you lost memories. Ghana first send Nigerians out In 1969 by Ghana head of state, A Yoruba street market name Makola in Yoruba language opposite Accra market was taken over from them including their building's.

Most of Methodist Church founded by Yoruba's was taken over from them. Many Nigerians lost all they have while over 1000 jailed. They never believe that hunger will effect them after 8 years and their only destination will be Nigeria.

First person jail in Nigeria for drug, arm rubbery, prostitute are Ghanaians.

They are the one that starts using Nigeria passport to travel because then Nigerians doesn't travel. Their criminality act is too much that federal government through author Nzeribe one of Nigerian that lost his multi purpose building in high brow area in 1969 in Ghana plan for their return.

So they first send Nigerians out from Ghana in 1969, then nigeria was fighting civil war so Ghana think is right time to strike Nigerians In their country.

Now they have started again with hope that Nigeria is suffering bad leadership syndromes and currupt politicians covid-19 fast killer disease and Ebola Nigerian security infection.

One day Nigeria will be good again and I want Ghana to remember all this their doing since 5 years till date. I have assurance that either nigeria is great again or we go out separate way and live a good life but let Ghana remember that they started it.

In Ghana they hate to petronize made in nigeria goods but in Nigeria, Nigerians petronize Ghana product as if their life depends on it. Yet Ghana think we are fools. If they didn't take it easy this distruction they are looking for will be granted ond day.

I support this move if the Nigerians involved where really involved in fraudulent activities.

People complaining have never travelled out of the country. If you see the way we are being discriminated against once you bring out that Green passport you will then realise how bad our image is internationally.

The Ghanaian Minister of Information, Kojo Nkrumah, on Sunday, defended the $1m trade levy and other regulations imposed on Nigerian traders in Ghana, noting that Nigeria had equally issued executive orders preventing foreigners from getting jobs which Nigerians can do.

The minister said it was astonishing that Ghanaian laws could be described as outrageous, noting that it was on record that Nigeria had taken a number of steps in pursuit of its national interests.

He cited the closure of the Seme-Krake borders since August 2019 as part of steps taken by the Federal Government, which he said had affected the neighbouring countries.

Nkrumah accused Nigerian traders in Ghana of gross violations of retail trade laws, including tax evasion, immigration offences, and selling substandard products.

Nkrumah stated this in reaction to a statement by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, that the Federal Government would no longer condone the reported harassment of Nigerians in the former Gold Coast.

Mohammed had in his statement on Friday listed various acts of aggression against Nigeria and its citizens by the Ghanaian authorities, including the takeover of some Nigerian diplomatic properties, discriminatory deportation of 825 Nigerians within one year and harsh jail sentences on Nigerians.

But Nkrumah said contrary to Mohammed’s claims that 825 Nigerians were deported between January 2018 and February 2019, only 700 Nigerians involved in fraud, prostitution, and armed robbery were deported from Ghana.

Nkrumah stated, “The Federal Republic (Nigeria), on the other hand, is on record to have taken a number of steps in recent months, in pursuit of her national interests, which have gravely affected other countries in the region.

“These include the closure of Nigeria’s Seme-Krake border from August 2019 to date and the issuance of executive orders by Nigeria’s Presidency preventing foreigners from getting jobs which Nigerians can do, to mention a few.

The minister assured that the Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, would engage with Nigeria’s President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and develop a framework for validating the claims of ill-treatment of citizens of either country and ensure they enjoy the full exercise of their rights while respecting the sovereignty and laws of both countries.

Nkrumah said his counterpart’s assertion on the alleged seizure of Nigerian Mission property located at No. 10, Barnes Road, Accra, was incorrect, noting that the land was acquired by Nigeria from a private citizen, Thomas Hardy, on October 23, 1959.

The minister explained that the commercial lease on the land expired 46 years ago without any evidence of renewal by the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana.

On the high residency permit levies, including the $120 for COVID-19 test imposed by the authorities, Nkrumah stated that this applied to all foreigners and not just Nigerians.

Speaking on the closure of over 1,000 shops belonging to Nigerians over non-payment of the $1m trade levy, the information minister stated, “The compliance exercises conducted in the selected markets revealed gross violations of retail trade laws and regulations by Ghanaians and foreigners, including Nigerians.

“These violations included tax evasion, immigration offences, trading in substandard products, violation of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre law, improper registration of firms, under-payment of business operating permits, falsification of documents, among others.”

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, on Sunday condemned Ghana’s hostile policies targeted mainly at Nigerian.

In separate letters to Buhari; Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama and Lai Mohammed, Obiano said Ghana was not being fair to Nigerians, given the major role that the late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, played “in reshaping the history and destiny of Ghana.”

In one of the letters made available to our correspondent in Awka, the Anambra State by the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C-Don Adinuba, Obiano said, “After all, it was the Great Zik of Africa (Nnamdi Azikiwe) who, as Editor-in-Chief of The African Morning Post in Accra in the 1940s, discovered the promising and intelligent young man known as Kwame Nkrumah and encouraged him to travel to the United States for further education and even secured admission for the young man in Zik’s alma mater, Storer College in Philadelphia.

“The Anambra State government notes that it will be a profoundly sad development if Ghanaians create the impression that non-Africans are welcome to their country but not fellow blacks and Africans.”

Ironi:

What is the volume of trade between Nigeria and Ghana ?

Very insignificant, so it makes really no difference if even you have a population of 1 billion .

Moreover, Nigeria has over 50 products banned from entering Nigeria from Ghana !

Ghana is still going, regardless !

You speak as a Ghanaian, but the magnified progress Ghana is banking on today is partly because of Nigerians flocking to Ghana.

You claim there's an insignificant amount of trade because you believe only in the exchange of products, what about services like education and tourism? Nigeria accounts for the largest share of international students in Ghana, paying in US dollars at very high cost comparable to that of EU countries, at cheap unrecognised Ghanaian universities that have no real campus like AIT in Ghana. This means that our citizens are also bringing in forex for you guys which helps your new cedis remain stable. If we decide to stop recognizing such qualifications in Nigeria (which is already in talks by the way) Ghanaian educational institutions will suffer because the boom in educational tourism would disappear.

Tourism is another aspect. Once we know there's no direct access to Ghana, we'd stop coming there to spend money in your hotels and vacation spots. The Americans and Britons that will go to Ghana, keep expecting them.

This is what happens in a country where a large number of youths openly endorse crime and worship criminals!
Crime has become a legitimate means of income in this country, as a matter of fact, they’ve rebranded it from crime to hustle..

We will continue getting this kind humiliation from all over the world until something is done about it..

Yes, the government is bad, the economy is also bad but we can actually do better!

Protect the image of this country..hustle legitimately

I believe the focus should be on the unjust $1M fee to do business in Ghana.... and making it retroactive is even worse. The fee is not even across the board but applies to businesses preferred by Nigerians. This is a clear case of discrimination which should be taken up by the FG. The other issues.... not paying taxes.... prostitution etc.... Ghana has the right to prosecute and deport foreigners who disobey their laws. If Ghanaians are in Nigeria doing same then we should not say it is unfair.... but we should be asking why are we not enforcing our laws. We are selling substandard goods to ourselves.... that's ok... and we believe we should be allowed to sell it to Ghanaians in Ghana. Well that's not ok with them. We need to look in the mirror.

Remember the story of the Lamborghini that was stolen from Zurich by a Ghanian and shipped into Ghana...the thief who is a Ghanian national then decided to use a Nigerian plate number to register the car.
