This government no go kill us o. Discos are increasing tarrrifs, DStv is increasing subscription and CBN is reducing interest paid by banks on our savings deposits. Make God help us!

I know it's painful, but trust me its the best thing for the power sector going forward. We need to move away from products and services being delivered below cost to enable those sectors to grow. The two sectors that have been plagued by subsidies and where we desperately need the private sector improvements to happen to improve our country are petroleum refining and electricity.

If electricity can become 24/7 in this country and the govt gets it's act together with industry, Nigeria can witness a big boom in manufacturing which will create jobs. Likewise, private sector petrol refining like Dangote refinery will create jobs and efficiencies in the sector, while freeing up subsidy ( or under recovery) funds infrastructure, health and most importantly education.

This is encouraging estimate bill which is not good,They won't want to share meter, I thought f.g gave directive for the quick distribution of the meter, what stops them from distributing it before the hike in tariff,
hiking prices gives them joy

What is there to trust? Billing people without recourse to metering?

Fg should checkmate the excesses of dstv, who probably run their facilities on gen sets using petrol or diesel, but should encourage the disco who bill without recourse to meter readings?

Whether you get light for 24hrs or 2hrs a day, bills should be based on meter reading. Without metering everything na fraud. Estimated billing don't just cut it. Two houses maybe identical in size but electricity usage will differ. Without metering these rogues should not be talking about increase in tariffs.

Premium satellite TV viewing is expensive in the Western world too, so I don't see why Nigeria should be an exception. grin

Help me ask them. To increase salary go hard them but to increase tariffs na breeze. The goats go come dey compare tariffs with world standard but when it comes to salaries story go change.

The govt is encouraging these Discos not to pay attention to the areas that are low income earners.
These people will only concentrate on areas where they charge higher bill and just neglect the ones that have now price increase .

As seen online:

Dear Esteemed Customer,

This is to notify our customers that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved the MULTI YEAR TARIFF ORDER (MYTO) 2020 (“the Order”), which takes effect from September 1, 2020.

This Order clusters Ikeja Electric customers into 5 Tariff Service Bands and revises the tariff payable by customers based on quality of service. This is measured by the average availability of power delivered over a one month period; factoring the frequency and duration of interruptions and other service parameters.

The Order shall remain in force until a new MYTO Order is issued. In the interim, please note that the tariffs for customers in Bands D and E (highlighted in the table below) shall remain frozen until there is improvement in service levels. In other words, the old tariff for customers in Bands D and E shall be maintained until Ikeja Electric improves the quality of service provided to these category of customers.
