COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND HOLY PILGRIMAGES!

Saudi Arabia makes $12bn annually from hajj. Israel made $6bn from tourism in 2019 (mostly religious pilgrimages) too.

Both the federal and state governments keep wasting billions sponsoring people on "religious tourism" with no corresponding spiritual or economic impact.

Covid-19 pandemic prevented our govt from wasting the billions this year, so what did we lose as a nation? Holy pilgrimage should no longer be a government project but a personal thing.

Large churches keep having large influx of participants from foreign nations during their conventions and major programs. Traditional festivals and carnivals are also held in Nigeria, yet our government does not know how to package and harness these to earn foreign exchange.

What a pity to have successive administrations that know how to waste and loot but don't know how to invest and harness. It is high time government stopped the sponsorship of annual the "unholy pilgrimages".
