Although in the "Church of Today" this topic is not a popular theme, the Bible is clear that disobeying God has severe consequences.

Genesis 9:5-6
And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being. “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed;for in the image of God has God made mankind.

For every act of sin and rebellion, there is a retribution.

Those who oppose God's will and rule will ultimately be excluded from his life-giving presence

Isaiah 66:16
For with fire and with his sword the LORD will execute judgment on all people, and many will be those slain by the LORD.

The Lord of host will JUDGE all creation as part of the process of renewing the earth

Isaiah 24:1-3
See, the LORD is going to lay waste the earth and devastate it; he will ruin its face and scatter its inhabitants—
it will be the same for pries[/b]t as for people,for the master as for his servant, for the mistress as for her servant,
for [b]selle[/b]r as for buyer, for borrower as for lender, for debtor as for creditor.The earth will be completely laid waste
and totally plundered.  [b]The LORD has spoken this word.

Sadly, opposition to God is not limited to those outside the community of faith(Church). The Bible tells us of many people who seems to know God but turned away from him.

Numbers 16:1-3
Korah son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and certain Reubenites—Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth—became insolent[a] 2 and rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council. 3 They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the LORD is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the LORD’s assembly?”

Those who rose up against those the Lord have choosen. We should remember the consequence of their opposition.

Those who fail to take God's word seriously are in deep spiritual trouble and will face the judgement of God

Hebrews 2:1-4
"So we must listen carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished. So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak?

The message of salvation delivered through Christ. The word "Drift away" can be used to picture a ship getting off course. Here it speaks of getting off track spiritually due(BECOS) to not listening very carefully to the Gospel. Those who say the Law is abolished must think twice. The message delivered on mount sinai which Jesus christ came to fulfill still stands firm and its violation is disobedience leading to jugdement. NO ESCAPE.

The Lord does not mess about

Hebrews 4:12-13
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is shaper than the sharpest two-edged sword. cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is unclothed and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable

The word of God is an active, effective force. The word that created and governs the cosmos can deal powerfully with people. It is able to penetrate the darkest recesses of people's lives, exposing their innermost thoughts and desire. Nothing is hidden from him. That is why we must protect the mind with the assurance that God has indeed saved and given eternal life to us who believe in Christ. The one who knows what goes on in our mind is to be FEARED

Hebrews 6:4-6
For it is IMPOSSIBLE to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened- those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come- and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame.

A harsh warning especailly for those who have left the Christain faith. These can be compared to those who fell in the wilderness. Their faith in God who resued them from pharoah, took them thru the red sea, made provison for all their needs, vanished . They did not enter the promised land. Those of like mind will miss heaven.
They can be compared with those who say Jesus Christ is not the messiah. For them, Heaven is impossible.

Hebrews 6:6-8
When the ground soaks up the falling rain and bears a good crop for the farmer, it has God's blessing. But if a field bears thorns and thisles, it is useless. The farmer will soon condemn that field and burn it.

When people turn their back on Christ, it is impossible for them to find any other means of repentance. They have rejected the sacrifice that Jesus endured on the cross. Crucifixion was the ultimate instrument of rejections and humiliation in the Greco-Roman world and brought public  shame. Those who turn away from Christ and his teaching had in effect joined those who stood before the cross shouting insults, insisting that Christ was not the messiah and the Son of God. That is why a muslim has no hope until they accept Christ as Lord and Savior. So imagine a christian coverting to Islamic.--- OMG --- A USELESS LIFE 




CONCLUSION

The aim of this thread is not to condemn, but to warn of the intending judgement of God as an expression of God's grace seeking to turn humankind to the ways of God. Taking the consequences of Apostasy seriously in order to help us build a resolve in faithfully following Christ.
