Yet another index falling off the cliff of humanity. Yet another proof the present leadership is completely at sea. I cannot see anyway forward for this country without a serious consideration about how it exists and how it is run. And I cannot understand how any sane person will remotely consider the present trajectory as anything but grave. We just cannot continue this way. Nigeria is dying slowly.

Nigeria’s population has doubled since 1990, which means the percentage of neonatal deaths in the country has reduced, but the absolute numbers are higher.

Lol...but India population has declined, going by your warped reasoning. Spits. Always justifying reasons for failure

Not surprising given that some people will start marrying at 15 and giving birth to children with uncertain futures. I have seen too many cases of malnourished children that I wonder if some people should even have a licence to breed.

I dont believe this news.

No evidence at all, just a means to destroy Nigeria image.

No data nothing, fake news

If you work in a hospital you won't be saying such, too many cases every day.

Second most religious nation in the world. With all our daddy GOs, Bishops, senior apostles, Rev Father, sisters, imams and sheiks, we are still like this. This is shameful!
I think religion also contributed to this mess but above all our leaders in all spheres have all failed.

Religion does what? Is religion responsible for poor health care facilities in the country? Please apportion the blame to the appropriate authority....Nigerian government (past and present).

Mortality rate of children under is mostly caused by two factors. Poor health care facilities and poverty. Most parents are poor.

religion and politics are same. They are inseparable. Religious leaders dine and wine with politicians. Politicians steal funds meant for massive development, build heavy cathedrals with looted fund, pastors sing their praises. Politicians pay tithe of millions to church every month, pastor does not question. Pastors build very expensive schools with the money meant for the maintenance of cheap public ones. Pastors fly jets here and there. Nigeria government can not maintain aviation industry because money has been looted and donated else where. Now tell me, has religion been helpful?

That's what I'm wondering, how will someone be poor and barely able to feed himself yet will get erect and impregnate somebody?
