my dear our pensioners need to enjoy the fruits of their labours am talking about the ones who were diligent and faithful in their work not the governors you mentioned....
I'm not against pension increase BUT it should not be for everybody. It should be for LOW LEVEL civil servants only, that is, the people whose pensions are "peanuts" or little money that they barely get by. It should EXCLUDE highest level pension earners who are already collecting JUMBO pension package year in year out. Where will the 33% increase come from to sustain that spending, is it not tax payer's that will suffer for it? See the pension of any former Governor & deputy below and tell me, does someone already getting all this suppose to get 33% increase again?

the Public Office Holder (Payment of Pension) Law No 11 Official Gazette of Lagos State, 2007 states that former governors of the state are entitled to a house each in any location of their choice in Lagos and Abuja. Section 2 of the law states that, “One residential house each for the governor and the deputy governor at any location of their choice in Lagos State and one residential house in the Federal Capital Territory for the governor on two consecutive terms.” The law also provides for six new cars every three years, 100 per cent of the basic salary of the serving governor (N7.7m per annum), as well as free health care for himself and members of his family. The law also says former governors will be entitled to furniture allowance, which is 300 per cent of their annual basic salary (N23.3m); house maintenance allowance, which is 10 per cent of basic salary (N778, 296); utility allowance, which is 20 per cent of the salary (N1.5m) and car maintenance allowance, which is 30 per cent of the annual basic salary (N2.3m). Other benefits include entertainment allowance, which is 10 per cent of the basic salary (N778, 296) and a personal assistant, who will earn 25 per cent of the governor’s annual basic salary (N1.9m). A former governor will also be entitled to eight policemen and two officials of the Department of State Services for life.

Mallam Buhari is not aware that Federal pensioners stipend has not been upgraded in the last ten years. This is a clear breach of the constitutional provisions for a review after five years.

Governors are public servants and not civil servants. So they are not inclusive of this package. And besides just as you said their pension is quite moderate despite the inflation and devaluation of naira.
Ok, thanks for the clarification. I'm not against pension increase for pensioners aka civil servants. Then based on your info, what I mean is Public Servants like ex- governors, deputies, speaker HOR etc already have very good packages and are well taken care of already, so no need to add 33% for them. But now you have enlightened me that they are not included. I never knew public servants is different from civil servants. Thank you for enlightenment. Na every day person suppose dey learn new tin. U have done well.

Very nice and commendable. The Delta state government should emulate this. The governor is notorious for delaying pensioners money. Imagine delaying payments to pensioners for up to 4 years after retirement. Many have died waiting without collecting their money. Money they have sweated for! They even contributed in the so called Contributory Pension Scheme.
