It's an open secret that the king of pop, Michael Jackson, resented his dad, Joe Jackson.
He said that the father of eight other children apart from himself use to to beat him, push him harder than the rest of his children, was mean to him and deprived him of a normal childhood.
He never forgave his father, and had a frosty relationship with him.
Michael Jackson was very fond of his mother, Katherine Jackson.
Opinions please. Do you think he was fair to the father, who nurtured his talent?

Lol... OP, are you time-travelling from the past? Why are you bringing up such old subject from 1980's. Is this the media's version of recycling technology?

Bottom Line: Parents should be very careful on how they treat their kids, because every thing they do (whether consciously or unconsciously) are being recorded on the young and frail mind of each of those kids. One of the early signs of the existence of such (negative) records in your kid, is when he/she derives pleasure doing the things he/she knows very well that you detest. NB: Michael knew very well that his dad detested the idea of the plastic surgery he underwent, yet he gladly did it...

True, but I feel he should have, at least acknowledge the father's contribution to the super star he became.
He is said to have been incredibly hard working, the dad instilled the trait in him at childhood.

Yes, but his emotions overrode that too, because to him, giving the dad credit for anything, would have amounted to a "thumbs up" for every other thing he did to him.

I still feel for Joe Jackson.
I still feel he didn't get the honour due to him.
Stars write about people who contributed to their success, invite them to watch them to their shows or games, call them to the stage for award ceremonies, but his son only blamed him.
Some kids will gladly trade places with Michael.
You can acknowledge peoples contribution to your success and still call them out for the negative things that they did to you. It's called rational thinking.
Don't you think so?
