2011 Thisday awards has been centered on young nigerian leaders, enterprenuers, celebrities. Influential nigerians from the entertainment world have been nominated for this year's awards. 2face idibia(music star), Chimamanda Adichie (writer), deola Sagoe (designer), Alex Okosi (MTV base CEO), Chiwetel Ejiofor (UK based movie star), Toyin Subair (HiTV owner) were nominated for the New Champions for an Enduring Culture.

Award winning female writer, Chimamanda Adichie wrote books like; Purple Hibiscus and others. Deola Sagoe is one of the best fashion designers in africa, won numerous fashion awards. Alex Okosi the brain behind the establishment of MTV base in africa, a proud nigerian and he's the president of MTV africa who has contributed immensely to the growth of nigerian music. Chiwetel Ejiofor, a nigerian born UK actor awarded national honour from the queen of england, OBE (Order Of British Empire). He is one of the few nigerians that have rocked the american and british movie industry, starring in movies like; Salt(with Angelina Jolie), American Gangster and others.
