The Church only sees three major events with regards to end time. These events are the rapture of the church, the great tribulation period which so many see as the second half of the 7 years period of the reign of the anti Christ. The third event is the second coming of Christ.

But the book of Revelation unveils many more events that the Prophets of old didn't see. And these events must be taken into cognizant in explaining or predicting what happens in the future.

The next major event the Church is anticipating is the rapture of the church. There are those who believe it will take place in the middle of the great tribulation period. This is not true. The misinterpretation is because of what they perceive Jesus was saying in Matthew 24.

Matthew 24 has nothing to do with the Church. The church age was still a mystery at that time. Jesus was revealing what will happen to the nation of Israel.

Now, the Church has come into the scene and we must be careful not to confuse God's plan for the Church with that of the Jews.

God's calendar for the present day Church is different from that of the Jews. God's dealing with the Jews is temporarily suspended. We are in the Church age. God's plan for the Jews will resume when he is through with the Church age.

Hence, Apostle Paul wrote;

Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

The last batch of the Gentiles that will be saved will be during the great tribulation period when the Saints left behind still have the opportunity to saved.

In summary, there are two future raptures; the first is the rapture of the church and the Second is the rapture of 144,000 Jews which our Lord Jesus referred to as the elect in Matthew 24.

There are also two future great tribulation. The first is that of the Saints left behind after rapture and the second is that of the Jews which Jesus was talked about in Matthew 24.

The rapture of the church will happen before the great tribulation period of the Saints left behind while that of the Jews will take place after the tribulation period has began.

So, the confusion is that the church is confusing the prediction for the Jews to be that of the church.

Below is the time line of events that will take place from the rapture of the church to the second coming of Christ.

1.The rapture of the church. 
2. World wide persecution of Saints left behind which is also known as the great tribulation period - Revelation 7 :9-17. 
3. 144,000 Jews sealed for protection - Revelation 7:1-8.
4. 7 Trumpet judgment of God 
5. Prophetic ministry of two witnesses likely to be Elijah and Moses. This will last for three and a half years - Revelation 11:3
6. Rise of the first beast - New world ruler that will rule from a confederation of ten European States - Revelation 13:1-10
7. The rise of the second beast - the false prophet and also the Messiah the Jews have been waiting for - Revelation 13:11-19
8. The setting up of the Image of the first beast by the false prophet - Revelation 13:15
9. Mark of the beast and no 666 Instituted. No one can buy or sell without that mark - Revelation 13:15
10. Persecution of the Jews begins for refusing to worship the image. Matthew 24:15-21, Revelation 13:7
11. Rapture of the 144,000 Jews sealed in chapter 7. These are the elect Jesus spake of in Matthew 24.- Revelation 14:1-5
12. Destruction of Jerusalem - Revelation 17:16
13. 7 Vial judgment of God on the seat of the anti Christ and those who received the mark of the beast - Revelation 18:1-21.
14. The destruction of Babylon the great likely to be the city of Rome - Revelation 18:21-24.
15. The second coming of Christ - Revelation 19:11-18.
