Somebody asked very important question. "if all these dignitaries came to welcome George from prison who then sent him to the prison"? Exactly my thought. If according to him that his imprisonment was politically motivated and all the power brokers in the political circle went to receive him from prison, who then sent him to prison? Or could this "cheers" be mere eyes service? |

Didnt Ribadu say Bode George wasnt in charge of NPA contracts before Waziri nailed him? @aganstGEJ, ribadu was never, is not and will never be a saint as long as i am concerned. ribadu was nothing but obasanjo's dog that went after opositions. no wonder the yar adua's administration wanted him to explain some issues via our law courts and knowing the full implications, he took to his heels. was that not the case until mr. ebele ojukwu azikiwe decided to bring him back and destroyed all charges against him. the idea behind ribadu's presidential pardon was pdp's plan b in case the northern demands for presidency gets more serious. obasanjo always wanted a soft landing spot and a cover up for all his atrocities so a trusted gang member is always what he want as a president. it is a shame to be under these group of armed robbers turned leaders. jonathan shld be ashamed of himself if all his pals and carbinet members are out there welcoming back a federal criminal. a man who shld be treated like an outcast now receives a heroic welcome. in other words, they are celebrating the death of yar adua. the best thing that will happen to nigeria is for God to destroy this country like he did to soldom when sin was the order of the day in the country. the worst news of my life will be jonathan or pdp continuing in the capacity of the president after april polls. |

I watched with rage and fury when the supporters of bode george (no apology for using the small letters) thronged around him in total display of SHAMELLESNESS, ARROGANCE and IMPUNITY typical of Nigeria most Nigerian citizen in government, and the fact that he belongs to the P[/b]eople [b]D[/b]eceiving [b]P[/b]eople party is another MINUS. As for me there is single difference between this [b]THIEF and those TERRORISTS - Osinusi, Anini, Eze Iyamu, and the Osisikankwu, the sum of all the so called money stolen by all of them cannot in any way be compared to that of bode george, to who is deceiving who, Nigerians LETS VOTE WISELY |

As in did he send an innocent citizen to jail? remember that after ribadu's tenure came an era that the supposedly untouchables were now being drilled (Bode George, Fani-Kayode). @Demdem, i tot nigerians have stopped thinking like u since? what cld be more criminal than calling a thief innocent? why on earth will ribadu call bode george innocent? under obasanjo and ribadu, corruption/looting got to the highest record in the history of nigeria. under ribadu and obasanjo, tony annineh collected N300b mearnt for lagos-benin expressway and did nothing about it. under ribadu, contracts that ran into billions of dollars were awarded and paid for with nobody accounting for them till date. this same ribadu boasted of going to arrest 31 govs at the expiration of their immunity but what happened. uncle, the worst type of justice in life is selected justice and that was what obasanjo and ribadu gave nigeria and the benefits are what we are reaping till date. all them iyabos, andy ubas, annenihs, bodes, kayodes, ribadus, rufais had issues but because they are within the good books of obasanjo, they remained saints. where were u when yar adua made a our judiciary system the decission makers. many wake up from their sleeps and the smart ones took to their heels until another obasanjo loyalist came on board. if ribadu wants to make things right politically, he had a lot of confessions to make. he must withdraw his presidential ambition and support Buhari/Bakare for change 2011 |

The courts sent him to prison after he was found guilty of stealing. UMYA kept his rule of law promise and had George carted away to prison. Afterall, Tafa Balogun also went to prison, and he was not celebrated when he left, perhaps it may be due to the fact that the corruption in PDP had not reached this all time low we are currently witnessing. |

@9ijaman.some of us can still remember that a festival was declared for tafa balogun in his hometown upon his release and he was given a new chieftancy title in a celebration which was graced by dignitaries.we can also remember that iyiola omisore on his releaswe from prison was escorted by over 150 cars/buses and that was a man accused of the murder of AGN bola ige.nigerians have a culture of celebrating rogues so i wasnt suprised bode george was celebrated.those in the know are aware his imprisonment was politically motivated.was he corrupt?definitely.he was placed at the head of NPA to perform just one duty "loot NPA and us the proceeds to win lagos for PDP" but he failed scandalously and was rewarded with a slap from OBJ and a prison sentence.OBJ was probably there to remind him that lagos still had to be won.i wonder why they place so much faith in george to deliver lagos.they wont have had too much problem if they hadnt killed williams.anyway i am never voting anything pdp even though i know jonathan will win.i want to be able to tell my kids that i did what was best for them by not voting goodluck ebele azikiwe babangida jr obj surrogate jonathan "on his own term" |

Some years ago, Jonathan Aitkin was the blue eyed boy of the British Tory party. A man then touted to be British prime minister after John Major. Well educated and well connected, upper middle class high society man, handsome and charming. Oxford first class ex student. Aitkin has everything but one day, all those came crashing down and he lost everything including his dignity as he admitted by himself as he was sent to prison for 5 years. What was his crime if you may ask? He stole from his family? NO! He stole from his party or constituents? NO! He stole from his ministry/nation as the Minister of Defence? NO! He killed somebody? NOT AT ALL! He jerked up contract? NO! He rigged election? No Way! Jonathan Aitkin’s crime which he received a 5 years jail term was that he lied in court during his libel case against a newspaper. Yes just telling lies landed him in court and he was found guilty. His wealth, position, charisma. Charm and person ability did not save him, neither did the government he represents as their minister of defence. He served his time and while in prison, he genuinely changed. He wrote the newspaper he lied against and apologised. He apologised to his wife and children, his party, his constituent and moreover his nation for letting them down, when he was required of his best. The day he came out of prison, he was wearing only jeans and a shirt, carrying in his hand was a black rubbish bag that contains all his worldly belongs in prison. He managed a smile to few paparazzi guys and few TV crews that came to record his exit from prison. There were no members of his family in sight. No Tory party member in sight talks less of members of the govt. How can they? Seen with him can cause you your seat in parliament. He was a man no one wanted to be seen with. If they do, it must be at the very best, personal and in private. There were no flashy car waiting for him out the prison gate and neither were civic reception He only managed to get a lift home from the prison authorities and that was it. Few years after his release, Aitkin has remained in the background as a private citizen. He wrote a bestseller when he came out, which sold in millions, narrating his prison experience and donated every single penny from the sale of his book to many charities and has remained a very private citizen. Compare this story to what happen in Lagos over the weekend with Bode George, and then you can see why I kept my belief that Nigeria as one nation is long dead. I can’t recall any culture that celebrates a felon so open and brazen. What on Saturday has nothing to do with the Yoruba race. It is the product of One Nigeria, where the culture of everything goes reign supreme Not Buhari/Bakare, Not Ribadu and definitely not CLUELESS JONATHAN can change it within this arrangement of a basket case called Nigeria. Its time everyone come to realization that Nigerian need to go their separate ways and if any group then want to celebrate their criminals, that should be their cup of tea. |

Delafruita: @Delafruita, Tafa may have been celebrated in his homw town or village, however, he never got any government or presidential delegation to receive him when he left jail, and that was my point. BTW it wasn't OBJ who sent Bode George to the gaol, UMYA was 9ja's president when he went to jail. Insinuating that it was a political motive is at best laughable, a thief is a thief be it political motive or whatever motive. |
