Wow, what an update.
I guess the reason Daniel (junior) didn't panick is probably because he must have felt some kinship and trust with his father even though he has never known him all his life.
So even when the boy found out the truth about his paternity, it didn't shock him too much.

As for Maria being alive.... That is such a plot twist.
