EDO 2020 BOLA AHMED TINUBU : THE TAMING AND CASTRATION OF A LION

The outcome of the Edo State gubernatorial election, in which the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday 20th of September declared the incumbent Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki, as returned elected for a second term, has revealed that the influence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of Nigeria's ruling party is plummeting , as the race toward 2023 gathers momentum.

Tinubu who few days to the Edo election in a video message styled himself as the 'Leader of all democrats' irrespective of their political parties in Nigeria, openly took a position against Obaseki, whom he accused of not being a pro democracy activist, 21 years after the enthronement of civil rule in Nigeria, and as lacking the democratic spirit by his refusal to swear in fourteen members elect of the Edo State House of Assembly.

While these accusations are manifestly false , Tinubu’s over bloated ego forgot the effect of time on events and that the children born after return to civil rule in 1999 are now eligible to vote, and they will vote performance not history. One of these young minds queried this writer on the role of President Muhammadu Buhari in the enthronement of civil rule and whether his lack of participation barred him from being elected President .

Investigations revealed that the move to throw himself into the Edo political ring openly, was taken by Tinubu on the prodding of some of his misguided senior associates who have been responsible for many of Tinubu’s anti people and anti - democratic decisions over the years. The identities of these people who are equally as culpable as Tinubu will soon be revealed together with their heinous roles.

It is now evidently clear that Tinubu goofed in that “address to Edo people”and at best should have assigned that role to one of his minions. Instead he was bloodied by public opinion in a referendum of some sorts on his chances for Presidency 2023. The Edo electorate rightly rejected his instruction that Obaseki should not be voted for.

Obaseki forged on and received 307, 965 votes which was enough to see him re-elected. Millions of Nigerians at home and in the diaspora were shocked that Tinubu could play the role of the Pharisees and the Sadducees, who inflamed the Israelites by demandnig for the release of Barabas and not Jesus Christ. Tinubu over rated himself and his effort to enthrone himself as a pan Nigeria leader crashed with disastrous consequences.

While Tinubu and his protege Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, the sacked National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, could not tackle Obaseki in the areas of performance, they gambled on labelling him as undemocratic, disloyal and ungrateful as regards intra party matters.
The question on the minds of rational individuals is, why is it impossible for Tinubu as the National Leader of the ruling party to forge peace in the party, why is it that he unleashes great propaganda against intra party perceived opponents, all because of his quest to become president in 2023. A house divided against itself falls.

In the build up to the 2019 general elections the finger of Tinubu caused great discontent and crisis in APC chapters in Lagos, Ogun, Imo, Rivers and Zamfara states, this was sequel to the loss of Benue and Sokoto states with the defection of the governors from APC to the PDP, and the loss of Adamawa, Bauchi and Oyo in the elections proper. APC had no candidates in Zamfara and Rivers as a result of these crisis. Lagos, Ogun and Imo yet totters on the verge of implosion. The common denominator of this discontent is Tinubu's agenda to denigrade political leading lights in these chapters and render them politically weak in the build up to the 2023 presidential election.

Edo, Ondo and Anambra states are post 2019 states earmarked to be captured by Tinubu in his bid to consolidate on his 2023 agenda, in the plans of his strategists who reckon President Muhammadu Buhari as a lame duck who could be defied, however the outcome of the Edo gubernatorial election as shown to Tinubu and his handlers, that Buhari the "converted democrat", whom they used to gain federal power, is indeed one with finer and sterling qualities of demoractic values and orientation than they are, by refusing to deploy federal might in Edo State.

On the surface one may ask is it wrong for a man to have a presidential ambition, the answer is, it is not, one may also ask is it wrong for Tinubu to take sides in a political contest, the answer is no, what is however wrong are the under hand tactics, brutalities and open falsehood Tinubu uses in birthing his agendas.

Hear him 'Oyegun is a bribe taker'... 'Ambode performed but not wanted by my core supporters' ... 'Akeredolu cannot win election' ... ''Obaseki not a pro democracy activist and true democrat' ... 'Okorocha and Amosun intent to build private political empires'. Tinubu is always fault shopping for his own personal political advantages in his journey to 2023. Strangely, all of the labels he hangs on others will easily fit him if properly scrutinized.

The Edo electorate have spoken, APC governors have spoken, APC members who in recent times bore Tinubu's high handedness have spoken, the United Kingdom and the United States of America have spoken, democrats of right breeding and culturing have spoken; will Tinubu listen and amend or will he forge ahead like a drug addicted and chronic gambler whose philosophy is the end justifies the means, only time will tell. Indeed Edo is not Lagos.

IZE,-IYAMU lost because
1. All the derogatory words oshiomole used against him in 2016are enough to bring any man down for life..
2. Tinubu shouldn't have made any stupid video, he over estimated himself..you can't sit in your house in Lagos and tell people in Edo what to do
3. APC chose Ganduje and Uzodinma to lead.what the hell were they thinking
4.Oshiomole again, he made the campaign more about himself Vs oshiomole
5. Oshiomole!!!fought against Godfatherism and still tried to become one
6. Edo no be Lagos worked like magic... remember Otoge
7. Wike the lion
8. Some APC governors secretly supported Obaseki
9. Philip Shuiabu loyalty

Tinubu is a man with good intentions for his people , he does not have a lousy personality and thus the word "tamed" can never be used to describe any outcome directly or indirectly related to him.
Tinubu understands NIGERIA's democracy and Federalism well that is why he is often tagged a genius.
The South South geopolitical zone is simply an enclave of very diverse tribes and no tribe will accept the leader of another tribe as the godfather of their State. You can only be a hero of your own tribe in the South South.
The South West is homogeneous and contains just the great Yoruba people. The Yoruba people have always practiced a centralized system of government before colonization and so after independence they have always maintained political fathers in different epochs. The Igbos and South South tribes do not really understand this because they have been decentralized from inception.
I'm not a Yoruba, by the way.

Money isn't really everything after all! It's insulting to Edolites for him to have assumed a position of telling them whom to vote. I mean that takes the biscuit! Politicians must believe Nigerians are irredeemably dumb and docile, lacking in ability to judge, compare and choose!

The one that really got my goat was when a man sat down and wanted to advice over 5 million Edo people on what is best for them.

Seriously?
