He must be reflecting on how he messed up so bad. This was so self inflicted. Completely avoidable. Let Obaseki be, compromise in Edo to retain your national power and prominence. A little humility was all that was required. Now he is rock bottom. A political nobody. Completely powerless, politically irrelevant and despised by many.
