Hypocrisy in the Church of God?

....As fellow clergy mobilises prayer support for Ogundipe

Pastor Odesola, a clergy in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has rallied support for the indicted and former Unilag VC, Professor Toyin Ogundipe by organising a prayer meeting consisting of Zonal Pastors, sources have revealed.

It will be recalled that Ogundipe was removed by the Babalakin led Council of the University on the allegations of financial misappropriation, forgery and abuse of office, among other offences last August. Some Pastors who spoke with our reporter on condition of annonymity, were disturbed that the Assistant General Overseer could be that biased on an issue that borders on corruption and could actually tarnish the image of the church which is expected to be the ground and pillar of truth, according to scriptures.

Pastor Odesola's concern and support for Prof Ogundipe is in connection with a supposed list of some Church members who were sent to Ogundipe for immediate employment at the University which was granted as Ogundipe directed their immediate employment. But due process was not followed as Council's approval was neither sought nor obtained.

The University Council had placed embargo on Staff employment and directed that all qualified staff on bar be converted to Administrative Officers or Executive Officers, meanwhile. Some staff of the University have been on same payroll for over 10 years without promotion or conversion.

In order not to get entangled in the ongoing imbroglio, the church is better advised to tread cautiously.
