The past week has been eventful around the world to say the least, so much that even our various locales within Nigeria hasn't been left out in the news- notably after two gas induced recent explosions in the community. While everyone commiserates with victims concerning their immeasurable losses, one vibrant entity is rising to the urgency of the matter- Rotary Club of Iju Spring.

Acting on behalf of President Akeem Rahamon, Rotarian Jimi Bickesteth called the meeting to order at exactly 8.17am, and Administrative Rotarian Funmilayo Bickesteth promptly led everyone in prayers by reciting Rotary Grace. Also Rotarian Folashade exercised the Rotary 4-Way Test, followed by well-recognized Rotarian Ojugbele relaying the objective of Rotary to everyone present including intending Rotarians, intending Rotaractors and esteemed guests of Rotary Club of Iju- District 9110.

Opportunity President Bickesteth quickly revised the globally registered concept of Rotary in its entirety with invitees. First being development of quality relationships among peers. Next is high ethical standards in business and professional development. Third being instilling the ideal of service as the difference between Church and Rotary is service.

Moving on to pressing matters of the day amidst low turnout among member Rotarians, Opportunity President Bickesteth faced the house concerning Iju's delayed public borehole project of which Rtn Ojugbele replied with efforts in progress to collaborate with prominent philanthropists. Rotary's agenda is to ensure access to potable drinking water for those living in Iju- Waterworks without the water.

"Rotary gives you an opportunity. Next year at least 50 or 60 of us must travel to the District Conference in Honolulu" were among Rotarian/SAA Bickesteth's choice of words when expressing numerous benefits associated with Rotary during his wide travels.

"President is not here, also some of our members. We survived Corona and now this major explosion. If we say we are doing charity for others, we should remember Charity begins at home"

Romantic spousal banter between Rotary Opportunity President Jimi Bickesteth and Admin- wife Funmi Bickesteth played on while everyone battled breakfast consisting of Fried Rice with Chicken and Tea. Then an official introduction of Mrs. Yomi Folashade, an insurance worker interested in Service to Humanity through Rotary. After reading Insurance worker Yomi Folashade the membership regime of Iju Spring, Hon. Bickesteth reasonably announced the exemption of Rotaractors from paying dues at meetings, even though they'd be enjoying certain benefits at meetings.

The Meeting ended before 10.30 which afforded everyone enough time to go and visit notable Rotarians affected by the far-reaching gas explosion which affected Ishaga- Ajuwon area of Lagos.
