The Continental DG, Advocacy for Good Governance Network, Ambassador Hussaini Coomassie has called on the Labour Union and all stakeholders to suspend their scheduled Monday strike and fashion a way for a meaningful dialogue.

The labour unions had threatened to embark on industrial action from Monday if their demands for the reversal of the increase in electricity tariff and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) were not met.

According to him, the Labour Union, CSOs and all stakeholders should give the speaker of Federal House of Representatives more Time to continue Negotiations with the Executive arm on their demands.

He added that they should give room for a fruitful dialogue with the executive, over their proposed industrial action, scheduled to commence on tomorrow Monday September 28.

Amb Coomassie said he is more concerned with the consequences of a shutdown of the nation's socio-economic activities which is likely to inflict more pains on Nigerians.

"Previous strikes have done Nigerians more harm than good and it always ends in deadlock and the worst part of actions like this, some misguided/self centred activists and hoodlums may see this as an opportunity to create havoc. Whenever government activities are shutdown completely, the common man feel the pains the more, so Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) should be the answer,"he concluded.

If only our govt will stop the unreasonable looting of funds. If there is need to remove subsidy on electricity and fuel, Nigerians will not complain, but u complain of cash strap and we still hear of massive looting and unreasonable allowances. I support the strike until our leaders are reasonable. Let the lack of funds affect them b4 it affects the poor man. I am tired of this nation
