Ghana Doesn't Legitimately Exist – Kosi Kedem by chrisparey: 5:12pm On Sep 30, 2020
In the wake of some gathering of individuals in the Volta Region requesting autonomy for a Western Togoland state, Kosi Kedem, a previous Member of Parliament for Hohoe South has contended that Ghana doesn't lawfully exist.

"There's no association record on the purported relationship between Ghana (Gold Coast) and Togoland. True, they are one [unit], yet lawfully, Ghana doesn't exist," Kosi Kedem said on Joy News' PM Express on Tuesday.

He clarified that Ghana as a nation is comprised of the Gold Coast and the UN Trust Territory of British Togoland, including that, for an association to be unavoidably legitimate, an association report should be sanctioned.

Kedem stated, "Goal 1044 which perceives the suggested association, a similar UN Resolution 1044 welcomed the British Government which was the regulating position to make such strides as important to achieve the association."

He proceeded: "All in all, if a Trust Territory, being managed by the UN and a province being controlled by Britain are to come into association, what do you do? You need to sit both of them down for them to figure out what sort of government they need to have, what will be their duties, commitments and advantages. Nothing of the sort was finished."

Kosi Kedem further expressed that the fundamental driver of the battle for autonomy by the secessionist bunches is that there is the nonattendance of the association archive that subtleties the elements of the association.

He showed that the plebiscite that brought about the autonomy of the Gold Coast was encouraged by the United Nations mission visiting French Togoland and British Togoland.

He clarified further that the plebiscite was to decide the political destiny of the two settlements which additionally gave two alternatives, that is, an association with the Gold Coast or a mix of the two provinces.

Kosi Kedem uncovered: "The issue is that there was a plebiscite because of the UN Visiting Mission which went to the two Togos; French Togo and British Togo in 1955, and they suggested that there ought to be a plebiscite in British Togoland to decide their political destiny. Larger part of Togoland said that they needed an association with an autonomous Gold Coast...the UN General Assembly dismissed the proposal of the association and coercively coordinated Togoland with Gold Coast."

He said an association would have kept up the power of Togoland which would have given them the sovereign fairness with autonomous Gold Coast under a similar government however under the joining, Togoland lost its character which was totally devoured by the Gold Coast. The association was in this way constrained on Togoland.

Kedem expressed that no gathering was held to decide the sort of government to be established, its duty, commitments just as the advantages to be gotten from the association.

"Rather, just before freedom, around fourth March, the British Government with the assistance of the CPP government simply sent soldiers to Togoland and involved the spot on the affectation that they were controlling a disobedience," he noted.

Kosi Kedem expressed that the British government wouldn't actualize the terms and conditions featured in Resolution 1044, which was to approve the association.

He thus required an exchange between the legislature and the secessionist gathering and further required the "amendment of the sacred botch" which can end the discussion of withdrawal and join the nation.

"Viciousness, encounter, suppression are ground-breaking, however discourse arrangement and commitment are undeniably more impressive than brutality since savagery doesn't take care of any issue, exchange does. It gives you a dependable answer for the issue," the previous MP included.
