As Nigeria turns 60 years in its journey of nationhood, many would have expected government and individuals at all levels to roll out drums in celebrating six decades of freedom from colonial imperialists.

But surprisingly, the celebration is not going the way many people might have thought. The reason is not just the socio-economic challenges confronting the country. In fact, the greatest hindrance to such a celebration is the presence of a global pandemic COVID-19, which has restricted people from gathering for fear of infection.

COVID-19 has come with its rules and principles, which include observance of Social Distancing and wearing face masks. It also forbids hugging and handshakes.
