FUMIGATION OF SCHOOLS BEGINS IN NASARAWA STATE AHEAD OF STUDENTS RESUMPTION

The Nasarawa State Government has begun the fumigation of 179 Secondary Schools and 1408 Public schools across the state ahead of reopening of schools.

The schools are expected to reopen for students on the 5th of this month after closure of schools for some months ago due to the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic.

The General Manager of Nasarawa State Environmental Protection Agency (NASEPA) Mr Iliyasu Yusuf Adeka said that the exercise was part of the measures put in place by the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule to combat termites and reptiles before students and pupils resumes after months of closure.

The General Manager said the chemicals (pesticides and herbicides) that are being apply would be environmental friendly and not harmful to human beings and that will also guarantee the safety of the children in their schools

He called on the principals and Headmasters of the schools to give necessary support needed to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

The General Manager who was together with the Director of Climate Change of the Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources Mrs Atinuke Chammang, visited schools in Obi, Aloshi, Adobu, Agwatashi, Keana and Awe to ensure smooth running of the exercise.
