ADO-EKITI-A good number of former political office holders in Ekiti State, who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, shunned their party’s presidential rally to collect their financial entitlements from Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Fayemi disbursed N1.2 billion as severance package to the former political office holders led by a former Deputy Governor, Chief Abiodun Aluko, at an event in Ado-Ekiti.

The Chief of Staff, Mr. Yemi Adaramodu, represented the governor at the disbursement of financial entitlements from which officials of other political parties benefited.

The ceremony took place at the same time with the PDP presidential campaign rally at Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti. Other PDP chieftains, who came to collect their cheques include the immediate past State Secretary of the party, Mr. Kayode Babade, former Special Adviser on Political Matters, Mr. Akin Omole, former commissioners, Chief Kayode Osadare, Chief Toyin Ojo and beneficiaries from other political parties.

Those paid were political office holders under the Adebayo administration of 1999-2003 and Fayose administration of 2003-2007. Other newspapers had more detailed breakdown of the news.

Because SADLY there's a law making provision for that. Not until it is repealed can this practice end.
