I've been working remotely on this weather experiment with Nick Lopez for quite a while. We launch helium/hydrogen balloons which can elevate up to 30,000+ feets above sea level.
With the Ballons are attached some microcontrollers which has a temperature, Pressure, and humidity sensors preinstalled in it.(Catena 4610 to be precise) The sensor are packed in a 3D printed box powered by a 3.7 volt lipo battery.
The sensors in space sends data as LoRa packets to our outdoor UG87 gateway connected to TheThingsNewtwork(TTN) and telos blockchain. The data stored permanently as open source software on telos blockchain which can be used for research purposes, to forecast the weather for heavy rainfall which can help us get information about flash flooding of areas with vulnberable children and people, before it happens.
The data is also used by meteorogical companies looking to process weather data which they can use to predict the sad events of easterly waves (hurricanes) etc.
The data has a lot of use cases and it is also useful to even farmers and people like you and me who needs weather information without internet connection (through SMS subcription).

It is can also be used by drone delivery companies in USA, Europe and Africa.

To do this experiments every week, I've received assistance from Blaise Hilary and Kenny Usoro and many others who are also interested in the project.
Launches are done at the University of Uyo permanent site, around Faculty of Engineering, Science, and Agriculture

We are actually the first to do this experiment in Uyo, Nigeria and Africa and gathering the data has been really successful.

We are https://kandaweather.org we offer climate and weather solutions.
