Because democracy and evolution are continuous journeys and not destinations . Gerrit ?  We will , in the end, arrive at a time , other nations have reached,  when it will be the likes of Donald Duke, Fola Adeolu, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and proven achievers , not mediocrities like GEJ and Alao Akala,  that can win elections . Ribadu should be praised for paving the way. His involvement will at least have encouraged many Nigerians with good skills and ability , rather than the usual crooks, to get involved . I have always said that Ribadu brightest chance would come from a status as consensus candidate for an alliance between the ACN and the CPC. That did not happen and naturally Buhari may have the better prospect overall but Ribadu's participation is important , for those who see the big picture, because he can prevent GEJ doing well in the decisive SW region. Ribadu , by participating , also does his own future ambition no harm at all . We all know that we are still practising politics of popularity and visibility in Nigeria . Ribadu is certainly "visible" now.
