It is a fact that for a long time, police in Nigeria have been doing bad things. 'Egunje' anybody?

For a very long time, there have been documentations of these corruption and excesses by local (including Nigeria Government's own Human Right Commission) and international organisations about this same Nigeria Police (who even removed Force from their name so that they can become more better beings).

It is documented that since 2016 the Federal Government had been on the "reform SARS agenda"

All through 2016 and 2017, these wickedness and maltreatment of Nigerians in the hands of SARS continued. They moved on to the streets to 'Yahoo' boys and then 'Fine boys'. Took on the toga of "Phone Monitoring Squad".

And the world kept these facts documented. What was government response? We have reformed, We have instituted a panel ....

Then there came #EndSARS in 2017 as a result of the heightened violations, maltreatments, corruption, indiscriminate and wanton impunity of the so called "law enforcement officers". Welcome to #EndSARS.

They reformed #EndSARS in 2017. Fact.

After #EndSARS was born and they reformed SARS, the following were documented.

SARS had the second reform in 2017, that was after a 2015 reform

Fact: The reports about the atrocities of SARS made them decide on psychiatric examinations of SARS policemen.
That was in another reform, and they renamed them fSARS.

You can't reform the unreformable

Gradual.

In summary they have been reformed over time with same result so don't except less from buhari of all government who sees sars as a southern youth control tool just like ruga, water resource bill, and nepotistic appointments

And the trouble of SARS continued.
The problematic unit which was formed and within a decade had undergone numerous "reforms" did not heal.
There were panels, quite a number, but the panels and the reports yielded nothing.

Well, the Nigerian Human Rights Commission (NHRC) if I get the full name correctly belongs to the Nigerian Government I think?
Here are few documented facts from that side, and another from a rights organisation.

Do police in Nigeria torture people?
Well, Nigeria has a law signed by Mr. Buhari at the end of 2017 which was likely as a result of the "reform". It was 25 years in jail for torturing suspects. So tell me, has anyone been jailed for torturing suspects? So tell, if a law is as watery as rain, what will another "reform" achieve?

My Opinion.

These facts are not even table of contents, talkless of the full book. The government is confused and think that they can come again after reforming SARS yearly since 2015 to reform them again in 2020. Nigerian Youths have said they won't be tired or give in. Allegations of government attempting to bribe youths have been thrown too. And the funniest of all is a #ProSARS campaign.

Unfortunately the money budgeted for #ProSARS will likely finish before the next call for #EndSARS trends. #EndSARS has at least 10 trending tags already and the competing trends #EndNorthernBanditry (died under 12 hours), and the #ProSARS (which will likely die under 12-24hours) can't stand the energy that is in the land at this time.


#EndSARS, #ReformSARS, or #ProSARS? It is a choice between light and darkness, truth and lies, wickedness and peace. It is a choice between education and illiteracy. It is a choice between backwardness and progress. It is a choice between bondage and freedom.
