...As Gov Ayade okay's naming of Women Devt Centre after the late Senator

As part of the activities leading to the final funeral rites of the late Senator Rose Okoji Oko, the Cross River State Government will be holding a valedictory session in her honour in Calabar, the state capital city.

This is just as the Cross River State Governor, His Excellency, Sir Ben Ayade has graciously approved the naming of the Women Development Centre after her in recognition of her laudable contributions to women development and education in the state.

The valedictory session, which holds on Monday (tomorrow), October 12, 2020 will take place at the Exco Chamber of the Peregrino House, Calabar. The state governor, first lady, deputy governor, cabinet commissioners, director-generals, other top government functionaries, family members, invited guests, associates, women leaders and sympathisers are all expected to be in attendance.

The event will also be in collaboration with Cross River Women Association, which will be followed by prayers at her residence, unveiling of her bust at the women Development Centre and climaxed with an evening of Tributes at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar.

It would be recalled that the late Senator Rose Oko, who until her death was the Senator representing Cross River North in the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly, was a former Commissioner for Education in Cross River State and the chairperson of the defunct Better Life Programme founded by the late Maryam Babangida.

It was gathered that it was under her leadership that the idea of a women development center was conceived, embarked upon and completed.

Naming the edifice after the late female Icon, Amazon, and notable lawmaker will see the governor granting the request and wishes of women in the state to immortalise her.

The late Senator's final funeral rites has been slated for November 5-6, 2020 at her late husband's compound in Ijegu, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State.
