It was pump and pageantry yesterday in the Ancient Kingdom Of ILLAH in Oshimili North Local government area of Delta State as the good people of the community converged at the OGBELANI PALACE OF HRM Obi Sylvester Enechaziem Jugai 1 to mark the final stage/
conclusion of this year's new yam festival known as # Ukwukpe # Umuagwu /Ukpologwu in the Ancient Illah Kingdom. The event also attracted a large turn out of visitors from far and near including the IYAN President General Comrd
Onelum Anthony Obi.
Eye witnesses at the event described it as very colorful and grandiose filled with fun and lively among them. Many described it as the largest gathering of people on Illah soil for the ancient Festival. It will be recalled that HRM Obi Sylvester Enechaziem Jugai 1 came on the throne after the Late Obi Christopher Gbemudu 11 embarked on the journey to our ancestral land, and this marks the first time he is presiding over this important traditional ceremony known as # Emime which celebrates the new yam culture as well as the productive strength of the good people of ILLAH.
All village communities were represented as well as children, women and youth organizations. The great music drummers from # Ukpologwu were not left out.
The ceremony which kicked off with the breaking of kolanuts at the OGBELANI PALACE, flanked by a retinue of # Olinzeles of Illah Community. In his prayers during the breaking of kolanuts, # Obi
# Enechaziem , # OGBELANI # ILLAH # KINGDOM thanked God for his mercies on all son and daughter of Illah and asked for good health, increased productivity, peace, love and unity among his people and others.
The Youth President General # Comrd # Onelum delivered a welcome note of thanks at the occasion. In his addressed, he welcomed all the guests and promised them of the benefits of Illah's traditional hospitality. He noted that the Community has made alot of progress since the enthronement of # Obi #Enechaziem . He however noted that there are still some # pockets of
# resistance but assured that efforts are being made to restore peace back into the fold.
This was followed by the actual outing event where guest were treated with sumptuous meals and choice of drinks.
