Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has prohibited all protest relating to #EndSARS in the state. He also warned parents to ensure that their children do not violate the law.

A statement from the state government explained that since the Inspector-General of Police had made a pronouncement on the special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, the Governor sees no reason why protesters should feel agitated.



The statement reads: “The Rivers State Government hereby wish to inform the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the State.

“Therefore, all proposed protests under #EndSARS Campaign are hereby prohibited.

“Government took this decision because the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had already scrapped the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

“Therefore, there is no need for any form of protest against a Unit of the Police Force that no longer exists.

“Parents and Guardians are therefore advised to ensure that their children or wards do not violate this order.

“Law enforcement agencies are also directed to ensure that the ban is enforced and that violators are brought to book.”

The EndSARS protest has gained audience from within and outside Nigeria.

Protest in pH would most likely be hijacked by criminals and federal government paid boys in order to destabilize the state. So I understand wike's fears...

No governor has been more critical of SARS like wike.

He is very mad by making such law. He has no right nor power to do so. Peaceful protest is the right of every citizen. In fact people can protest for lack of money in their pockets. It might not be reasonable to you as a corrupt government official but it is their fundamental human right.

Who does he think he is? An emperor? He better becareful before we go change am for am. This is not their usual APC vs PDP nonsense.

Just Incase the police wants to step out with the same SARS in a different uniform and name, they will think twice before messing with the wrong generation.

Useless analogy. SARS are one of the government agencies, they are under the people. On the other hand, people are above government. They are supreme. We are their their employer so they can't order us around. We tell them what to do not the other way round.

Why ban a peaceful protest. The police boss just made a pronouncement and the the youths don't trust them any longer with just mere say.
