When the Niger Deltans rose to "revolt" & cut short the oil supply of oil companies/barons, they were asked to select "leaders" & representatives. They had just won a few battles. Not the war. Each time, the "representatives" were flown to Abuja, lodged in 5 star hotels and "entertained". A chaperone was attached to them from the other side, & ensures that they are lacking of nothing. These were riverine boys who hadn't seen opulence, talk more of the extravagance of oil coys, barons who saw these expenses as slush funds & the lavishness of Abuja.

A day turned into two & into weeks, & the message of the "chaperone" will be, "Enjoy yourselves. They're still in a meeting & will be with you shortly". The representatives were "freedom fighters", here to speak about their impoverished people & oil drenched villages.

Often, one or two will remind them of why they came to Abuja, because they were already falling into the hedonic trap. Others will remind the conscious ones to take life more easily - the inability to subdue the pull of money is where evil roots in. They fell. These were conscious strategies. A week or two later, when these "representatives" had fully clung to the web, the chaperone announces that the "ogas" were ready to see them.

It took nothing to convince these boys why a few millions, houses & cars for themselves & their boys (and maybe a few boreholes for the community) and a little projects by the companies was a good deal.

They were making a concession, after all, they had treated them well & understand their clamour. Why should they keep being at loggerheads with the military when they can work together? A little muscle is a good tactic even when you're at odds. The representatives agreed. They forgot about the struggle. The community. They reason they took up to arms. And the people. Greed is a motivator. Everyone has a price. "Concession. Negotiation. Leaders." "Committee."

The oldest trick in the Machiavellian book. As the saying goes, "if you must dine with the devil, use a long spoon". It's a deliberate derailment. Citizens (we) have not won ANYTHING. Just a few battles. If the government wanted to make reforms, they don't need to "negotiate" to do the right thing.

Already, factions are forming. They know you want power. If money is the root of evil, power is the soil on which it germinates.

There's always a history lesson.

Focus.

Are North protesting ? I'm not really sure. Why ? I do not see them.

You see I stay in the north and the issues are many. If the northerners will embrace this protest and understand the country in heading nowhere under the dullard, I swear things will change. Those guys mean business if they want to

Nigeria is a hopeless enterprise.

The Hausa/Fulani are hanging on because they'd be worse-off otherwise (they shot themselves in the foot when they thumbed their noses at the white man's education pre-independence, and they are yet to catch up till today). Southerners want out but their leaders keep betraying them in exchange for crumbs left over after the nothern oligarchs must have had their fill.

Olu Falae, Richard Akinjide, Alex Ekwueme, Ernest Shonekan, Ken Saro-Wiwa, Olusegun Obasanjo, Bola Tinubu, etc all these men have got one particular thing in common and it's not a good thing

Pls who else had noticed that boko haram and bandits has really suspend their attacks, we haven't hear any news about any attacks since the beginning of the #endsars protest. Are the service chiefs afraid of northerners starting their version of #sacktheservicechiefs protest or what?
Let think about it
Many thoughts on my mind but can't put them into words now.

I'm from the North. No government will want northerners to protest because they are not afraid of authority when they get angry

Is this also a political sponsored protest?

They think their propaganda will continue to work for them, e go soon clear.

People are being killed by fulani bandits, people are suffering and things have become so tough for Nigerians, they cried out and all the funny government always do is to counter their cries with propaganda.

They think we are fools. Now E no dey clear.

I noticed that they "suspended their attacks" since Trump warned Buhari about the killings of Christians.

protests:

]. . . our grievances that as Nigerians we are not enjoying what we should enjoy,’’ they noted

If you are still asking why we still #EndSARS protest, you have it from the 'erudite' Mr. Abdul-Azeez Suleiman

If a Northern person, taking 95% under Pa Buhari is not enjoying what he should enjoy, sit down there hating on #EndSARS you hear. Don't carry your placard and join us. Lazy person like you grin.
Can you swear on your mother's womb that you've held any placard and protested on the streets since the movement began?

I need to know the author.

It is the most beautiful exposé I have read on NL this week regarding the current state of our polity.
