A new analysis by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) determined that by the time the federal government imposed travel restrictions on Europe, it was too late for the virus to take hold in the region. The federal government restricted travel from China in early February, but by mid March, millions of passengers had already passed through the airports in the three states before restricting travel from Europe, where travelers carried the virus.
