It depends on what you mean by 'colonize'.

If you mean 'colonize' in the sense that the British colonised Nigeria, then no.

But they established influential trading colonies among the Annang/Ibibio and other groups; and were active traders and oracle agents throughout the old Eastern Region, and that includes Bonny and Kalabari.

Their Long Juju was even known and consulted from as far away as Nembe.

The truth is that people like you are illiterates of the highest order trying to console yourself with miseries of the past, Arros are nothing to any of the above tribes but a terror to every other Igbos.
The entire slave taken out of the coastal areas of Itu, Ikot Abasi( Opopo), Bonny and the mother port CALABAR were Ibos.
The Ogons had no dealings with any tribe except the Ibibios and it is known that they never married any except themselves and Ibibios.
Arros never saw any inland port of the Ibibios not to talk of the Atlantic ocean, they had no dealings with the Europeans, they colonized Ibos and were only suppliers of IBO's slaves to the Ibibios middle men.
Arros are IBO's, Ibibios, Akpas, mixtures I can say an hybrid of IBOs, together with Abribas and Bende tribe that practices the Ibibios cultures but never dared control Ibibios, Ogonis, etc but did colonized the ibos

The ibibio man is a crafty snake that can not be trusted.
Ibibio is not Efik and Efik is not Ibibio. stop getting things mixed up and always wanting to claim other's glory. you have your own state now . get your point straight. Efik and ibibio are the same ethnic group but not the same people just as Idemili and Aro or Owerre are not the same . Ibibio were also enslaved and influenced by Efiks and that's why these days ibibio copy Efik culture and typical Efik names.
Afang soup,Afia efere,Abak soup etc are all efik foods. The traditional ibibio dressing are alladopted from Efik's . these names are all Efik names : Bassey,Essien,Archibong,Inyang,Ekpe,Edet,Ekanem,Ekpeyong,Effiong,Okon,Edem, etc in addition to Victorian era influenced names which have become part of Efik Culture :Duke ,Henshaw ,Ironbar , Cobham , Hogan etc.
These days ibibio try to copy Efiks or wanting to be more enlightened by taking on some silly English surnames like Charles ,Carter,Markson etc lol
What happened between Efiks and Aros /Ohafia was business partnership, cultural affinity and exchange and admixtures. Efiks influenced the Aros. It wouldn't be far fetched to insinuate many Aros might originally be Efiks. Meanwhile Aro,Ngwa and other igbo groups were always at loggerheads with ibibios and annangs.
.

Honestly you must be very stupid, copy who? I don't recognise who you say you are, except for some group of people kicked out by their kinsfolks from Uruan and Oku Iboku several years ago.
Duke, Ironbar, Henshaw, Hogan are purely English/Scottish names so cut the stupid crap of Victorian influenced garbage as for those Ibibios names you mentioned as non-Ibibios maybe you need that head of yours reexamined.
Charles, Markson, Carter which Ibibio answer such nonsense, are they not Victorian Influenced names you copycats also use?

It seems you lost the plot and don't even know what you're doing. It's visible and audible to the blind and deaf that you are envious and have inferiority complex towards Efiks. That's why you are everywhere on this forum ,facebook,Wikipedia ,etc posting baseless fallacy, trying hard to discredit and tarnish Efik/Calabar,and wishing Efik Calabar evil . Very funny. I don't know why Akwa ibom people have such wicked hearts. I just don't get it . Even if Efiks ever migrated from Ibibio which is false , Efik is not Ibibio and ibibio is not Efik. Efik language is more refined and appealing than Ibibio, annang and Oro language. Efik culture and history is richer and more appealing.
No one gives you time of day despite your cunning ways. Efiks do not hate Akwa ibom people , just want you to stay your lane . Efiks are wiser now and actions going forward will reflect that , Since your true colors has been revealed.

I can see you are a gutter rat trying to get my attention, you can check my old posts I have dealt with your kind a guy called Beachside before he went for a name change.
I can very well see your mentality is primitive and disgusting for my liking, I only specialise in dealing with the other major ethnic groups instead of bantering with minorities like me and not to talk of a people I see as one
I have plenty of ego puffing Yoruba's, Ibos and Hausa to feed on, I don't share in your local Ibibio/Efik, Oro, Ejahgham mentality cause I never lived in that whacked environment as a child so don't drag me into such local rants

Lol, You sound really dumb and i'm only responding to you . Ibibio environment and mentality is local and inferior , Efik/Calabar is Superior and all Efiks around the world no matter where born and raised are proud of Efik/Calabar land, culture, food, history, and language.
And do you know anything about me to magically know were I was born or raised? Your sneaky and wicked ways make Efik distrustful of you. keep crying.
Many people create change monikers for different reason. One reason could be to avoid haters like you, lol
.

Shut ur dirty mouth, run ya lose mouths to your fellow prawn and periwinkle selling greedy lots kicked out from their folds many of years ago, you own which calabar?
