Getting a promotion is easier said than done. While there are some tips that can help you get one, there are also some things that can hinder you from getting promoted. They are: Complaining A lot You cannot and should not openly talk about how long it was since you got your last promotion. It shouldn’t be your place to talk about how hard you worked on the last project. When you do that you come off as whiny and irritating to your fellow colleagues and your bosses. Rather keep working hard, document your success and when you feel it might be time to ask for that promotion, you ask for it and show evidence of how you’ve helped the company overtime. Make it a point to be positive and professional when things are bothering you. Making It Look Like You’re After The Money This is a common mistakes made by most entry level employees. While money can be a driving force to working harder, it can also be a distraction and can also lead to pride. Of course a promotion is all about getting a good raise, having more responsibility and a better position in your organization, but let’s just keep that to yourself. Your basic argument should be regarding your accomplishments and what benefits would be more appropriate for your performance in the company.
