#EndSARS Reveals Buhari's Leadership Style

A movement that was supposed to #End Systemic Arrangements that Repeatedly Strangulates (SARS) has shown the type of leader President Buhari is.

Action, they say, speak louder than words. Sometimes INACTION does the same.

Leaders all over the world will come out at the news of dissent by any group and address the issues. Not so Nigerian leader. YOUTHS who form a very substantial portion of the population have been out for weeks protesting what even what the high and mighty in the society attest to yet what we have is a deafening silence from a man who swore to keep to the constitution of the land.

He would rather rule by proxy. Let others make the statements. Let others face the people. After all, those commitments cannot be said to be directly made by him and may be denied.

In the face of distrust in government one would have expected that the leader would make use of every opportunity to build confidence in the people. A major way is by engagement with the people. How come our President thinks otherwise?

Even after many, including the National Assembly asked for his direct response he still 'took his time'. How come that a leader who is quick to send condolences to leaders of other nations is unresponsive to his own people? Isn't something wrong here?

In a democracy the people should be key. That is why most leaders in democratic states will not pass by the opportunity to relate with the people. But when an individual uses the democratic process to gain leadership without having the heart of a Democrat then his leadership style begins to reveal his true intentions.

It is clear that President Buhari does not truly believe in engagement with the people. It would appear that it is the system he found himself that forces him to 'act' as is expected of a person in his position.

Going forward I believe that the movement we need is that which will push for the election of people who truly have the interests of the people at heart. A movement that will ensure that beginning from the Local Government level we put in place those who will be responsive to the yearnings of the people. If the way this current movement has been organized is to go by I think that vision is achievable.

Human government is a failure.

Not reliable.

Cannot answer mankind's problems.

Indeed an independent thinking leader can respond to issues spontaneously without have to wait until others think for him and direct how he should respond.

Finally, the President has addressed the nation.
What can we take away from the speech?
Did it connect with the people?
Did it provide some hope for a better future?
Did it attempt to resolve the issue of the trust deficit the people have with regards to the government?
