Here's a video of Van Persie's action that got him a second yellow and thus a red card during Arsenal's second leg Champions League second round tie with Barcelona.

Was it worth a second yellow? I think he shouldn't have been sent off but the referee had his own ideas of spoiling such a match by unnecessarily reducing one team by a man.

red card was not deserved. But it didn't affect the game at all. Arsenal ended the game with 0 shots on goal, as opposed to Barcelona's 12.

What was the softest sending off?

Van persie deserved the red card way before in the first half

Which of his offences do not deserve a Yellow card? He shoved Alvez in the first half, He should have been sent off minutes later for dissent but the ref overlooked.

Later he kicked the ball after the whistle which is a stonewall Yellow.

Kolcieny had no biz being on the field.

He was on a yellow , The foul for Messis penalty was another yellow plus the hack on Villa. None of them was given and these asswipes come here to say Ref was biased against them.

What a group of tossers

It did if only for once. If V. P was on the pitch and got that pass towards the end of the match from Wilshere that Bendtner got he would have scored.

The ref was too harsh on RVP and i suspected a UEFA collabo to favor d home team coz d ref shuld hv given hm d last warning than sending hm off in such a big encounter. Am nt a fan of both team bt i like watching both coz d play a lovely and entertaining game bt the ref killed d game that would hv bn an entertaining second half after d equalizer.
Arsenal didn't play well in d first half coz they decided to sit bak and wait for counter attack and it definitely makes d game suck in dat first half bt d time we all decided to watch a real game frm d two most entertaining team was wen d ref did d worst. It would hv bn better dat d ref awarded d penalty to messi than sending off RVP. Anyway, its one of those ref blunders that kills d lovely game dat i love watching.,
Weep no more gunners fan!

Did van Persie deserve the Yellow card? Hell yeah, absolutely. He continued play after the ref had blown for offside. That's a yellow card offence and he got the appropriate sanction.

Could the referee have been a little lenient? Well, maybe. But why put yourself in a situation where your survival will depend on a ref's leniency?

van Persie was already cautioned for his shove on Alves. He had been warned severally after other challenges. What else did you want the ref to do? The ref chose not to be lenient and go by the rules, any problem with that?

"There was only one second from his whistle to my shot and it is a joke. I explained it to him but he had been bad all evening."

Those are the words of VP himself.
How did he come to the knowledge that his shot was only a second after the whistle, and at the same time claim to not have heard the whistle?
Who is fooling who?

Trust Wenger to capitalize on any flimsy opportunity as a valid excuse.

Arsenal should be more worried about domestic cup(s) that are still within reach, UCL 2011 is now 'was'.

So you're now a soothsayer? How do you know that Masch wouldn't have closed him down? Don't cling to straws abeg. The game is done and dusted. 20 goal attempts to zero says the whole story.

I even heard one on the radio this morning. Every time Arsenal play Barcelona, they always go a man down. That one was priceless. What about the two times last season they played? In one of those ties, Barca even went a man down and conceded a penalty, after being 2-0 up at some point. We should have also wept.

If that ball from Wilshere had fallen for van Persie, it would have landed on his right. Wilshere dispossesed Adriano down the right flank and if he had squared it to vP, it would have landed on vP's right, his weaker foot and with Mascherano breathing down his neck, just a few seconds behind him. van Persie would have had to control on his right and bring it to his left and Mascherano would have dispossesed him. If van Persie took it first time on his right, he would have missed(fact!). Besides, you can't rule out a Valdes save.
