What Islam Says About Celebrating The Birth Of The Prophet? by Lukgaf(m): 2:57am On Oct 23, 2020
We are currently in the month of Robiu l awwal. In this month, some Muslims celebrate the birth of the prophet. Is this kind of celebration allowed in Islam?

Praise be to Allah.

Firstly, Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is the Messenger of Allaah to all of mankind, the one through whom Allaah leads people from darkness into light, from misguidance to guidance.

Secondly, acts of worship in Islam are based on an important principle, which is that no one is permitted to worship Allaah in any way except that which Allaah has prescribed in his Book or which was taught by His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Whoever worships Allaah by doing something that Allaah and His Messenger have not enjoined, Allaah will not accept that from him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told us of that, as it was narrated that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours [i.e., Islam] that is not part of it will have it rejected.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, Kitaab al-Sulh, 2499).

Acts of worship include festivals. Allaah has prescribed two festivals or Eids for us to celebrate, and it is not permissible for us to celebrate any others.

With regard to celebrating the day on which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was born, it should be noted that he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not tell us to celebrate this day, and he himself (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not celebrate it, nor did his companions (may Allaah be pleased with them). They loved the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) far more than we do, yet despite that they did not celebrate this day. Hence we do not celebrate this day, in obedience to the command of Allaah Who has commanded us to follow the commands of His Prophet. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad) gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it)” [al-Hashr 59:7]

And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I urge you to adhere to my Sunnah [way] and the way of the Rightly-Guided khaleefahs. Adhere to it and cling tightly to it. And beware of newly-invented matters [in religion], for every newly-invented matter is an innovation and every innovation is a going-astray.” (Narrated by Abu Dawood, al-Sunnah, 3991; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, no. 3851).

The extent to which a person loves the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is to be seen in how he follows him with regard to all that he commanded or forbade. That includes following him in not celebrating the day on which he was born.

Whoever wants to venerate the day on which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was born should follow the alternative that is based on Islamic evidence, which is that one should fast on Mondays, not just the day that he was born but every Monday.

It was narrated from Abu Qutaadah al-Ansaari (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about fasting on Mondays. He said, “On that day I was born and on that day the Revelation came to me.” (Narrated by Muslim, 1978). On Thursdays deeds are taken up and shown to Allaah.

Conclusion: celebrating the Prophet’s birthday was not prescribed by Allaah or by the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), so it is not permissible for the Muslims to celebrate his birthday, in obedience to the command of Allaah and the command of His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
We ask Allaah to guide you to the Straight Path.

And Allaah knows best.

Good Article, Great Source. Alhamdulilah

Don't forget to do this

The Sunnah's of the day of Friday

1. Send plenty salutations upon the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

2. Ghusl [ritual washing of the whole body].

3. Wear your best clothes.

4. Apply perfume.

5. Cleaning the teeth with siwāk/miswāk [cleaning twig made from the Salvadora persica tree (known as arāk, أراك, in Arabic)].

6. Going early to the masjid [mosque].

7. Reading Surah al-Kahf.

8. Supplication.

TN: There are other highly recommended acts which are not mentioned in the post i.e. reciting Surah as-Sajdah and Surah al-Insān in the Fajr prayer, walking to the masjid, not seperating two people sitting together in the masjid, pray as much as possible, not making another person get up to sit in his place, listening to the Imām delivering his sermon and no idle talk, praying two units at home after the Friday prayer [or four (two two) units of prayer in the masjid (mosque)], sending plenty of salutations upon the Messenger of Allāh صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ on the day of Friday and the night before [after (Thursday) maghrib prayer.

Read this carefully and reevaluate

Islam and Christianity all took their root from one source which is Abraham

Moses himself wrote the Torah while the different prophets wrote their own books.

My point is, according to the Torah and the Prophet which is the book the Jews still use till date. They believe a messiah would come. They believe the messiah would die for the sins of men as written in the book they read, they believe the Messiah shall be called the Almighty God, evidently, God is a Spirit and that was why the Messiah was born through the power of the Holy Spirit so He would be who He was said to be. Do your findings?

Oh, Islam. A scourge to the world.

A history teacher in France was beheaded by a teenage Islamist just because he was teaching religious tolerance. O yes, the cartoon he brought in front of the class was a caricature of Mohammad, and that was enough for his neck to be slit. cool

https://www.france24.com/en/france/20201022-anger-at-beheading-of-french-teacher-must-not-override-rule-of-law

See some of the Islamic comments, which of course is no surprise: cool

Most of you have been writing rubbish about the Prophet SAW. Celebrating the birthday of the Prophet SAW is wrong according to your post op but you celebrate your own birthday? That's hypocrisy! There are so many things the Prophet SAW didn't do nor ask us to do that we do today and are considered to be acceptable Islamically. Examples include quranic competition, eating with spoon, using microphones and speakers to call to Sallat, preaching through radio and tv or even going to hajj through air planes and a whole lot of others. We venerate the Prophet SAW! When you preach against Maulud, we organize five more Maulud!

Celebrating the prophet Muhammad (SAW) birthday is the same as celebrating Islam, because the prophet (SAW) is the symbol of Islam.

Anybody opposing mawlid is in league with Shaitan because it's only Shaitan that was annoyed when prophet Muhammad (SAW ) was born.

Indeed everyone rejoices except for THE DEVIL and his counterparts: Evidence:
أن إبليس رن أربع رنات حين لعن وحين أهبط وحين ولد رسول(صلى الله عليه وسلم) وحين أنزلت الفاتحة
Iblis (Shaitan) CRIED loudly four times, 1- When Allah declared him as cursed, 2- When he was
thrown out of Paradise, 3- When THE PROPHET (SAW) was BORN (MILAD) and 4- When Surah Fatiha was revealed [Ibn Kathir in Al Bidayah wan Nihayah, Volume 2, Page No. 166]

Jazakallah bi khair bro. These people are the core Organisers of Qur'anic competitions (something that was started less than 100 years ago) in the world which in some extent even cause envy among the participants.

Prophet himself celebrated it and he did not forbid it for any one and the Quran did not forbid it. It is Sunni scholar that forbid it but not all Sunni scholars. There are some who go against there government. They play politics on everything Sunni government and there scholars. if u go again them Na whala that is why they said no protest in Islam.
