...Urges panel to diligently carry out duty

…Says Ugwuanyi only governor that gave students palliatives during COVID-19 lockdown

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has applauded the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, for swiftly commencing action towards securing justice for late Ejike Okeke, a student of Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, who was unfortunately hit by a stray bullet during the #EndSARS protest hijacked by miscreants.

In a statement jointly signed by the Deputy Coordinator, NANS Zone B (South-South, South-East) Comr. Darlington Ugwuegbe and NANS Chairman, Enugu State, Comr. Romanus Ogene, the Nigerian students expressed satisfaction that “the Gov. Ugwuanyi-led administration has immediately swung into action, dispatching government delegation to pay condolences to all bereaved families of the #EndSARS protest and initiating an investigation panel geared towards identifying perpetrators of these crimes”.

They added that the state government has also gone further "to demonstrate pro-activeness by setting up a panel on victims of #EndSARS protest, to investigate and ascertain peculiar cases surrounding every victim of the protests and report for urgent government action”, in line with their demands.

NANS stressed that “these urgent actions by the Gov. Ugwuanyi administration clearly demonstrate responsiveness and forthrightness of government”, and have gone further to reaffirm “our faith and trust in the current administration”.

According to NANS leaders, “As the highest students leadership body, we are also elated that the government of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has ushered Enugu State students into a new phase of inclusion where classroom students will be involved and carried along in every committee, panels, boards and delegation. From where we stand, it demonstrates the administration's belief in the latent potentials of a student.

“Instructively, while there is the long argument about palliatives, the leadership of Enugu State students vehemently refuses to tread the ignorant path remembering that Gov. Ugwuanyi remains the only governor in Nigeria that gave students palliatives during the COVID-19 lockdown, a gesture that Enugu State students will not forget in a hurry.

“We clearly understand that this is a trying time for our dear state and our nation but we trust in the strength of the governor's compassionate character to manage all emotions and sentiments that have been stirred up by the events of the past few days.

“Finally, we urge the members of the constituted panel to strive to live up to the demands of their mandate while we continue to maintain relations with the state government to ensure that investigations are fruitful”.

Sparogatively, talk is cheap!

You hypocrite! First, remove the beam out of your own eye , and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.

In other words, NANS, first carry out your own duty diligently before telling anybody to carry their's out diligently.

Such Hypocrites! ASUU matter is still lingering and I have never seen or heard of anything they did or said concerning it!

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS, my foot!

The only judicial panel I trust to at least try to do justice is that of Lagos State. All these other ones are just political units. The one in bayelsa is a shame. I know the two youths that were appointed to join the panel, PDP people. Infact everyone in that state has a political affiliation.

Docile Nigerian students. Instead of taking action on government to resolve ASUU strike, you are busy engaging in frivolities. Nonsense.

Which one be NANS Kwa? Did they participate in the protest?
Wonders shall never end.

I'm waiting for their brother NYCN to come and claim the billions provided by the federal government for Nigeria youths to relapse end SARS protest.

Ignoble and irrelevant buffoons.

These two bodies are the future problems and challenges that could hinder the sanitation of corruption in the country in future. Very hopeless sets of young thieves.

NANS is a corrupt body.

It's one of the problems of this country.

In fact, it's one of the proofs that our youths aren't any better than our elders.

NANS should learn how to choose their fight intelligently.

They could've seized the moment of #ENDSARSNOW to advocate for #ENDASUUSTRIKENOW also.

Now, ASUU strike is still on and universities may not reopen until next year, and NANS is still shouting #ENDSARS.

A nationwide campaign and protest (online and offline) should by now have been launched against govt and ASUU strike.

Buhari cares the less unless noise is made against him and his inept govt. He doesn't care if Nigerian students remain at home till next year for as long as his Yusuf is safe in Aso Rock.

This NANS is just everywhere except where they're supposed to be. Students are steadily suffering. ITF hasn't paid students even from 2017 internship set ordinary 15k but NANS is more concerned about what shouldn't be top on their order of priorities. Sha NANS is more like an Arm of APC these days

In school I saw what my SUG did with my dues.

And my departmental president did with my contributions.

So when I saw the way the youth were protesting aggressive for change of leadership I just laugh.

Psuedo moralist.

Half of this celeb musicians will still play in politicains rally for money come next elections. Who is fooling who?

Who will implement the recommendations of the panel.

Waste of time
Waste of resources

Those governors Constituting panels of enquiries on police brutality, do they have control over the police?

Was it FG that sent them?
