What is the difference between being Intentional about your career and going with the flow?

Here's an example...

If I lose my job, I can start looking out for job vacancies and apply for the positions I feel qualified for and wait to be invited for interviews.

Rinse and repeat.

Or...

1. I can upgrade my work skills based on relevance in my chosen industry.

2. Look out for major industry players/decision makers and offer them value so as to increase my visibility for work opportunities.

3. Make use of all my social media platforms to write about my work, thereby paving the way to become a thought leader in my field of work.

4. Have specific career goals in mind for any event, webinar, conference I attend or groups/associations I join.

This is how to be intentional about your career. Not waiting for things to happen, but, knowing what you want and going after it.
