The world is too polluted, doubt it would be banned. As a former addict, i will never advise anyone to tune into it. You're always better off not stumbling on porn. Took me years to understand this. You don't even have to be an addict to avoid it. It's just fantasy that harms people. 7 Likes |

fredwill1357: Faulty Premise 1: You assume that watching porn is the reason there's a prevalence of rapes and sexual assaults. Faulty Premise 2: You assume that unproductive people, and people who are not useful to themselves and society, have a porn addiction. Be aware that I do not hold brief for the porn industry by my submission above. I'm simply intent on letting you know that with or without porn, there'll still be sexual assaults/rapes and there'll still be unproductive people. If at all there's a decrease in the number of persons in those groups after banning porn, it will be so negligible that the ban on porn would have been unnecessary. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

crackhaus:It is a principle of natural justice that nobody can judge a case in which they have interest, only few people will be able to judge their causes fairly. Porn isn't the only factor that perpetuates rape and unproductivity in people, but it plays it's own roles with the lot's of dirty and perverted fantasies being played out in many porn movies, given the fact that it adds no benefits to our lives, except the addicted idiots defending it, it should be banned for good. 2 Likes |

fredwill1357:Obviously it isn't, the question is how much of it is really behind unproductivity and rape. Let me help you with a perspective... Think of a country where you know that cases of rape and unproductivity in the younger citizens are very low in comparison to Nigeria. Do you think they don't watch porn in that country? 3 Likes |

Porn aids rape and sexual assault. If you've ever watched so much of it, you should understand his perspective. If you've watched a lot of it and deny that it aids abuse, you will be lieing to yourself. Definitely! Not all rape cases have roots in porn consumption. Whatever your perspective, it wouldn't change the fact that porn to a degree can aid abusive behaviours. crackhaus: 6 Likes 1 Share |

nwaezeemmanuel:If your intention is to make the world a better place then you're doing a piss-poor job of it Why stop at just porn? Ban all movies that glorify crime and gangs, this will reduce armed-robbery, and street gangsters. Ban all music (rap specifically) that objectifies women, glorifies drugs and encourages the make-money-quick lifestyle. This will reduce drug addictions, prostitution, and internet fraudsters. 9 Likes |

crackhaus:Most developed countries where people watch porn a lot have security, with cameras installed on streets and people minding their business and living a secluded life, it is far easier to rape someone in a country like Nigeria, where you see minors hawking on unfamiliar streets and people giving out under aged children as house helps. Moreover the white man and black man way of thinking differs. All in all, given the fact that porn adds no benefits to our lives except the addicted minds that runs to it, it is in the betterment of our lives and the society at large that it gets banned all over the world or at least in Nigeria. 2 Likes |

I'm not holding porn responsible for every crime. I'm saying what it is capable of. Whether it is banned or not, it is not my concern. Movies glorifying crime have the potential to aid criminal activities. During the Akin and Pawpaw days, i saw kids take on deadly mischievous pranks, out of misguided influence of their movies. Music has the potential to create societal problems as well. If the toxic hypnotic ones weren't there, things maybe could have been not as bad. At the end, we are always responsible for our individual actions. This doesn't excuse porn from being a negative influence still. crackhaus: 5 Likes |

crackhaus:Our sexual urge is one of the most strongest urges in our body, people sometimes lose their senses when they are aroused, that is why people make noises and stupid promises when having sex, they just can't help it, you can't compare the hot blood that runs in our veins when watching porn and aroused to what we feel when watching violent movies and listening to degrading music's. 1 Like |

fredwill1357:Good, finally you're warming up to the real issue. Took you long enough... So what do you think is really responsible for high cases of rape, sexual assaults, and unproductivity? Is it porn, or is it how developed a country is? And by developed I mean – good security systems, professional law enforcement carrying out investigations, laws against rape/sexual assaults that are enforced strictly, etc. And in the area of unproductivity, job/wealth creation can take care of that to a good extent. But let's say porn is indeed banned in Nigeria because you assume it's behind the high levels of unproductivity, what happens when an unproductive person still has no access to jobs or low-interest loans to start businesses after this ban? Don't you think they will seek another vice to invest their time in? All in all, given the fact that porn adds no benefits to our lives except the addicted minds that runs to it, it is in the betterment of our lives and the society at large that it gets banned all over the world or at least in Nigeria. This opinion is purely subjective because you live in a country like Nigeria where nothing works, which is why you think porn is responsible (even a little bit) for the state of the country. If porn is really that big an issue for you, then banning it all over the world should be preferable. Most of the content Nigerians watch are not made by Nigerians. 4 Likes |

nwaezeemmanuel:The entire thread was premeditated on the idea of banning porn, if you now don't care whether it's banned or not, what is your argument here? Movies glorifying crime have the potential to aid criminal activities.Good, Ban them all! At the end, we are always responsible for our individual actions. This doesn't excuse porn from being a negative influence still. No where have I stated that it has no negative influence. Even drinking too much water has negative effects on the body. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

You're just trying to downplay the negative influence of porn subtly. The OP talked about more things than banning porn, and i responded. We have no reason to drag this further, i already know your stance. crackhaus: 3 Likes |

fredwill1357:No one is comparing the instant feelings of pleasure you get when watching these things. It's the behaviour they can induce overtime we are talking about. You say, porn = rape, sexual assault, unproductivity. I say, movies/music = drugs, prostitution (half-nakëd women), gangsterism, fraudsters. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

It is better to ban churches and mosques than ban porn. You can't leave the snake(churches & mosques) under your bed to chase after the rat (porn) eating your food. 2 Likes |

Going through and reading this page you will see how Nigerians think and why Nigeria is so undeveloped, it is inhabited by one of the most stupid and unintelligent species of humans. People complain about increasing rape cases in our country, I even saw an advert discouraging rape on Nta one day. Someone suggests the ban of an unproductive, useless and pervert influence like porn and people counter it because they have interests in it one way or the other, the topic has over 400 views with only a few likes, this goes to show how Nigerians aren't willing to stop any negative factors that are hurting the society if they have something to gain, even if it is just crumbs. Anyone defending porn is into it one way or the other, given the fact that porn is harmful to the brain and can turn some teens and adults into chronic masturbators and potential rapists who wants to act out their porn fantasies, plus that porn has no benefits to us, it should banned. 4 Likes |

Some idiots are even comparing porn with religion and other influences that can be negative, religion has it's own advantages to the society, religion brings meaning into the lives of some people, movies keep people busy on holidays and weekends, music soothes the mind, porn brings creepy perverted thoughts to our minds, it has no advantage other than turning people who constantly give into it into unmotivated individuals. Even if we are to ban all other negative influences, it is one at a time. 3 Likes |

Of all problem Nigeria has now, it is porn you single out. How about religion and politician putting their people in abject poverty and illiteracy in the form of Almajiri? How about our leaders who loot funds meant for the public, the even hoarded palliatives. The recent NDDC scandal nko? If you posit that pornography is responsible for increase in rape and sexual abuse then why do we have cases of sexual abuses before pornography even became a thing? |
