Dear Reader,

The age-long cliché of ‘A hungry man is an angry man’ rings true in Nigeria. The prices of foodstuffs especially the essentials like rice and garri has been going up with the disposable income rapidly dwindling.

This has led to social unrest as seen in the mindless looting by many of the enraged citizens in the aftermath of the #End SARS protests.

In this piece, Chigozie Nnuriam critically examines the causes of the surge and suggests pragmatic ways in which the prices can come down for the benefit of the common man.
