The government killed that boy....I was actually at the general hospital ota when he was declared dead.... The lecturers that brought him were complaining why there will be no state own hospital in the whole of igbesa, Atan, iju, chelsea/winners.... And the road is bad.... Traffic and all... May his soul rest in peace
Oh, exactly. The bad road made it worse linking Igbesa to Ota. That's damn too bad for an emergency

The road is very bad
However, I believe they could have taken him to a private hospital for first aid
I guess money discouraged the people helping the deceased... And according to what I heard it was an elderly man going to the farm that was riding the bike... The money discouraged them

Why they rejected him is what we should try and find out, but our hospitals are not trying shaa
Good question.
Inadequate facilities ?
No doctors ? (Since the minister asked them to go into farming)
Critical case and was referred? (And it's called rejection )

I just hope it has not got to this stage where hospitals blantly REJECT patients.

Painful to write RIP to the young. RIP

This days cowards have no taken over the medical business
not cowards....
Some times some conditions are being referred to an higher level of health care, based on what the first healthcare cannot handle.
Conditions primary health care can't handle would be referred to secondary health care and if can't be handled, then tertiary institutions.
A school clinic has what equipment on ground to manage head injury, do they have oxygen? Do they have specialist/ consultant? Do they have a standard theatre?
So this ain't about cowardism
What first aid treatment can they give to a head injury patient, paracetamol?
They probably don't even have cannulae or intravenous fluid, just saying.....

Nigeria has made medical practitioners seem uncaring and wicked and it ain't like that.

May his soul R.I. P

At this point, we can only speculate...since we don't have his medical history.

1.Possible injuries include a head injury, fractures to any bones, or even internal bleed from ruptured major boood vessels.

2.School clinics can only render first aid, then refer to a higher hospital.

3.If the gent had a fracture...especially skull fracture....that's an injury that is best treated in a TEACHING HOSPITAL....or similar level hospital. Wiith a consultant orthopedic doctor...and even a consultant neurosurgeon on standby. Not at a school clinic.

Infact, if the guy had multiple fractures.....and I was the school clinic nurse on duty, I won't even touch the patient...not if I want to keep my licensse to practice. Refer, refer.

The fact that the guy was knocked down is enough to assume there would most likely be some major injury. In such a case...refer, refer to the nearest biig tertiary hospital...where investigations can be done

4.As for clinic not having fuel...see why ASUU and ASUP go on strike. See why some of us can't stand corruption[/s].?

University clinic has nothing to do with ASUU strike actions. ASUU= Academic Staff Union of Universities. It is for academic staff, while Clinic staff are non-academic.

A school clinic should be atleast equipped with a good ambulance, maximum of 20 bed spaces, 2 -3 12kg of Oxygen cylinders, mini imaging room for x ray / ultrasound, mini laboratory, mini pharmacy. But it a pity!

University clinics are funded from the university's budget.

The problem is, most universities are badly funded to begin with. That's a big part of what ASUU has been fighting for...for increased funding for universities as a whole...not just lecturer salaries.

But with an education budget of less than a trillion naira....when South Africa has seven times that for their education budget..and they charge higher fees for their uiversites into the bargain, what did you expect.?

So sad. The very sad reality of life in Nigeria. Even common ambulance cannot be fuelled? No naa, it's unacceptable. Even if they can't manage the RTA case, at least an ambulance should be available to convey the young man to a hospital. Damn! The MD of that clinic or dispensary needs to answer some questions.

Nigeria is not working at all, may God keep protecting us all.

Business Success Secrets unveiled:

There is no way to eliminate all the risk associated with starting a business. However, you can boost your chances of success by adequate preparation and planning. The starting point will involve you answering some salient questions:
1. How well can you handle different sorts of people ( In business, you will meet the good, the bad and the ugly!)
2. How good is your decision making strategy? (In business, those who are good at making good and incisive decisions are usually successful)
3. Do you have the emotional and physical stamina to start and run a business? (Starting and running a business of your own can be physically and emotionally demanding.
Those who can stand the heat usually pack up midway
4. How good are you in terms of organizational skills, time management and planning skills? (Business involves lots of planning, organization and time management). If you can't juggle between running your own family and your business or organizing your account books, staff or taking inventory of stocks...then you need to reconsider going into business.

Is it compulsory they take him to state owned hospital, why not first aid from nearest government owned hospital,e.g Agbara,Atan.
I was mad when Atan community built a police station from scratch and donated it to the Nigeria Police instead of a standard hospital.
Yes the roads are bad,but we need to make some decisions to save lives.
