In Avengers : infinity war, when Iron man ask Dr strange how many of the outcome did they win, he said 1, do you think that there are more than 1. Giving the fact that Dr strange prophesied to Iron man that he will sacrifice him to protect the time stone and he also saw that iron man was willing to do anything to make them win.

Where they probably more than 1 outcome that the avengers won?

I don't think Dr. Strange said it categorically that tony needed to sacrifice himself. He only told him that when its time, ''he will do the right thing''. Much later just before the ''final snap'' was when tony realized he was the one that needed to do the 'snap' in order to restore humanity.

There's really no point in him lying that they have lesser odds than they actually do. If anything, he should be lying that there was more than one positive outcome

But If I remember right, that elder lady(can't remember her name) believed Bruce banner in End game when he told her what Dr strange told Stark.

He realised the only way to save the time stone was to allow thanos have it and stark later get it back.


That's why he released the stone on the condition that thanos doesnt kill tony stark


Thanos being a person of his word agreed.
