Instead of giving them such huge amount of money to embezzle, why can't the government just allocate designated petrol stations for all police and other government agencies to be filling up for free on a regular basis. That way there will be better accountability and less loopholes for mismanagement of resources.
After fueling for free, the money that should be remitted into the fueling station's account would be looted. Then you'll start hearing stories like stations are refusing to sell fuel for government agencies cos of the debt owed by the government.

Corruption has eaten deep into the system...no matter the strategy the government adopts money will still be looted

Which will not be used to fuel any car ...we all know all police stations fuel their vehicles by themselves
As if you read my mind. I had a conversation with one of them who confessed to me that their patrol cars are fueled by the patrol officers themselves. This is why they always go on "raids" to catch innocent people for bail money. Minus the fact that DPOs give these same officers 'targets' of a certain amount, they must make each day.
The rot is from top to bottom.

Hmmmmm, he wants money to embezzle, but what surprises me is that despite the budget allocation for fueling of the vehicles, they will still demand money for fuel again when on official duty, why?

Thieves, Nigeria police is something else. After giving them such a budget, they will send their boys to the roads to be collecting bribes.
And if you are opportune you will do more than that,na only police own you fit talk, what about senators, reps, ministers, vice Chancellor, and all the institution in the country.

Half of the budget will be looted... I wonder why they need 450Billion in a year when they arent buying guns, equipments and armored cars nor recruiting new policemen in 2021.. what's the budget for?

It doesn't even include rebuilding destroyed stations and buying more vehicles.
Just for fuel. SMH

Yes, because the head itself is corrupt. So there's no accountability drive from the top. In any functional organisation, especially the private ones, the best strategies to reduce corruption usually involve limiting the number of people that actually come in contact with the money. It is much easier to ask 2 people what they did with the money given to them, than to ask a hundred.

there is no way the government can escape this because whoever manage the filling station will always want to embezzle the opportunity

The clear difference between Buhari and Jonathan's administrations is that in the time of Jonathan no government official had the boldness to declare their intention to steal publicly nor the amount they intended to embezzle... They simply did it quietly, and hoped no one found out.

Under Buhari, people just boldly state ahead of time the amount they intend to misappropriate... No fear not regard for the citizenry.

Nigeria Police officers would stand on security checking points and keep themselves busy collecting N50 from motorists, if you give them N500, they will calmly give you your change of N450 complete, in other words, don't let them under that you aren't going to comply, this are the words you hear ' hey pack there, you wan jam me abi, you again, where is driving license, where is paper, officer take this motor to station. Now that N50 you collect that made you not to carry out your duty, fuel those cars that government gave you which you don't maintain nor wash from it.
When one goes to the police station for arrest or anything at all, police officers on the desk will ask you to pay N500 for a sheet of paper because you want to lay complain. before police officers go to the scene of the incidence, you will pay them N3,000 or above as the case maybe, they call it mobilization fee. what I'm asking IG of police, you are aware that these are what that are obtainable with Nigeria police, then why are you asking the stupid things that called themselves Mad Nigeria government officials for money to fuel your broken cars. we youths are seeing you people oh. we are coming for protest on January ending. we will send you police on exile, we will kill you and your wife and children you Nigeria government officials, we will burn down your home, your property. when we're done, you know that youths have power, strength and educated.

Even with that them go sell black market petrol. They collect fuel and strategically not use the fuel, so they unload the fuel before collecting another one. The unloaded one goes to black market.

Many of us on NL comments like we have no understanding of the issue at hand

The police bedeviled with flagrant collection of bribe and extortion has earlier made us know that every police station are left to their own mercy to fuel their vehicles, motorcycles and ensure same are maintained

They claim no budgetary provision is made by the government to cater for these hence the reason why they do self help as these has severally been adduced as the reason why the police indulge in bribery and other high handed excesses

Now at the aftermath of #EndSARS the police in the spirit of reform has now deemed it fit to call out the government on the need to bear responsibility for fuelling and maintenance and all many of us can do is to resort to name calling

We can not eat our cake and have it.
When Nigeria was sane the Police were used to have fuel dumps where they collect fuel for their operations
But now no such arrangement, so how do we expect the police to handle the situation

This country is a big house of comedy!

what is being said is not what is actually being done. The Nigerian police is one of the most corrupt public sphere in the country.

Oga IG, can you boldly defend the fact that an average Nigerian police officer do not pay for his own uniform, pouch, berets and other accessories

were all the aforementioned not budgeted for?

until the IG can release the list of cabals flexing their bellies on the fat chunk given to the police, then he is part of the looting! And if the president can't hold anyone responsible, then it means, the chief of staff gets a quota of what is left on the appropriation which is likely to fall on the average police man paying for his own uniform as a public officer!

Oga IG, so, who are you now deceiving?

fuel which car

this country needs to format these fools sitting fat on our nations wealth!

the thing just tire me!
