ASUU Strike: Lingering strike May Plunder Nigeria

Dear Government,

I must sincerely appreciate your efforts towards solving some long term problems in Nigeria. Most people know, if not everyone, that mischievous people who tend to paint the government bad exist.

Seeing beyond the press, we can be sure of decisive actions taken by this administration to position Nigeria in a more robust way. While all of these are quite visible, some other issues may suggest otherwise.

In a country where her education instituions do not get properly funded, yet could get shut down for weeks per year without a lasting solution since the issue started will not suggest otherwise, that the government does not care about the plight of Nigerian students.

In Nigeria, students would get locked out of school because of ASUU strike, get locked out because of internal issues, get locked out because of students' demonstrations against management and lecturers and the government still does not look for means to allay the fears in the minds of many Nigerians.

Like we may have rightly seen in the media, the ruling class are widely blamed for the woes bedevilling the educational system. This is suggested that, they are not part of the masses that flock around Nigerian schools.

Are there no solution to this unending crisis rocking the sector? Should students continue to suffer for the mistakes of both Federal Government and ASUU? If we refuse to take actions immediately, there may be another erupting chaotic destruction that may plunder the nation and throw us in a thick darkness.

The Government should show the positive signs of goodwill, respect the laws available and if need be, change the laws before exercising against the laws. Universities acts suggest autonomy which has usually been the case. All of a sudden, bringing up politically motivated decisions to interject the running of institutions will not only throw the sector into a state of collapse but will we well dash the hope of the beneficiaries of the failed system.

If IPPIS is an issue, the government should admit errors and correct them. All of these are achievable without prolonging matters.

The inability of the government to find a lasting solution will throw the nation into another state of uncertainty, that no security agency and not even a presidential speech can solve.

You do not need to be abusive when you send the email,
you should be diplomatic with the content of your mail: plead with them, let them realize that we, unlike them, can not afford private or foreign schools!
