The Nigerian Army has said that the Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was misinformed on the number of casualties at Lekki Tollgate where #EndSARS protesters gathered, on October 20, insisting that no one was killed, at the protest ground. Brigadier General Ahmed Taiwo, who was representing the Nigerian Army at the ongoing #EndSARS Lagos Panel of inquiry made the disclosure today, Vanguard reports. Contradicting the state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who claimed that two persons died as a result of the attack, General Taiwo said that the two casualties were not at the protest scene. “On 20th October, 2020, at about 6.30 pm, while we tried to speak with the protesters and negotiate with them, they pelted stones at us and we had to fire blank bullets at protesters.” According to General Taiwo, most of the pictures making the rounds were not taken on the said date. “Any picture that you (lawyers) want to present here must be submitted to forensic test. “No protester sustained injury nor died. The two people Governor Sanwo-Olu mentioned did not die at the scene; one died at Admiralty Way, which is three kilometre away from the Lekki Tollgate. “The second person was shot at Yaba,” General Taiwo said. When he asked if he saw news making the rounds from foreign media houses, Gen Taiwo said he saw one from BBC and CNN but did not see anyone from Al Jazeera because “I was sleeping on the street every night, making sure the place is safe. “Most of the videos in play have been manipulated,” Gen Taiwo said. If you resort to name-calling, it really means you've not got a single valid argument left to inject into the conversation. Unfortunately, far too many lead with the insults, which really only demonstrates that they didn't have a cogent argument in the first place - only slogans. The whole lekki shooting is a conspiracy against the Army and good leadership of Buhari and Buratai |

What is happening between Sanwo Olu and Nigerian Army? Indications and contraindications! 1. Initially, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanw-Olu claimed he was naive of who ordered and invited the military. The military spokesman affirmed that they arrived at Lekki Toll gate, the scene of protest, based on invitation by the state government. 2. The State Governor who has the information and intelligence of everything happening within his state claimed and confirmed that 2 people died (though he initially said 1) at the scene and many were injured after visiting the site. The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said two deaths have been confirmed from the Lekki shooting that occurred on Tuesday.[/b] Now, the military are out to tell us that a “confirmed information” was a misinformation. I think it is high time the State Governors took full charge of the security of their states. The military is confused, same as the State Governor. Their confusion is flummoxing the panel now, I’m wondering who the panel is going to believe 1 Like |

I understand when they said nobody died. Normally cows are more valued in this country than human beings so they meant no cow was killed at the toll gate. Everybody involved in that killing including those paid to defend those acts here on nairaland will experience worse things in their miserable lives. He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword. 1 Like |
