Go to Indonesia, Hong Kong, Chile, Iraq and other countries where they protest and see if you will see road to pass.

This injustice will come back to hunt you
I don't have any problem protesting and blocking the road in order to force the hand of the government.

But just desist from deceiving the world and calling it "peaceful" protest.

Once you block the roads it is no longer peaceful and you must be prepared to deal with the consequences.

Cursed failed useless country with wicked and heartless rulers...

People are facing police brutality everyday, mother’s losing their children due to police brutality and they decided to protest to say enough it’s enough and this senseless old fool IG feels or think it’s sponsored protest.

So citizens should fold arms and watch while the useless Nigerian police kill all youths.

I have said it, protest can’t change anything in this shithole cursed country. They will always tagged it as sponsored.

Oppressed can’t ask for good governance with placards and protest from the oppressors oligarchs

U cannot remove a president that way. Jonathan was not removed by protests. It is not possible. Let us do protests with sense. No Nigerian President and even foreign unless very few will resign over protests unless it became paramount.

If Apc wanted to remove Jonathan via protests u or atleast many will screem foul.

Police IG says #EndSARS protesters wanted Buhari removed from office

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has said the recent #EndSARS protest in Nigeria was aimed at removing President Muhammadu Buhari from office.

Mr Adamu made the claim, Tuesday, in Port Harcourt, during a meeting between the leaders of the South-south region and a delegation from Nigeria’s presidency, according to a press statement from the Rivers State Government House.

“Adamu alleged that intelligence has confirmed that the EndSARS protest was funded from within and outside the country,” said the statement issued by Governor Nyesom Wike’s media aide, Kelvin Ebiri.

“He further added that one of the primary objectives of the protest was to effect a regime change,” the statement said.

The police chief said fake news gave “impetus” to the protests which lasted for days.

Contrary to Mr Adamu’s claim, the young men and women who participated in the historic protest mainly demanded an end to police brutality in Nigeria.

Nigeria’s human rights record has greatly deteriorated since President Buhari was re-elected in 2015.

In a meeting, earlier in November, where the police chief, Mr Adamu was in attendance, governors from northern Nigeria had made a similar claim that the #EndSARS protesters wanted a “regime change”.

The northern governors, whose communique was read by their chairman, Simon Lalong, the governor of Plateau State, said “uncontrolled social media” helped in spreading fake news and had fueled the protest.

They called for the regulation of social media in Nigeria.

However, other regions in Nigeria, going by the previous remarks made by their leaders, appeared opposed to the notion that the protesters wanted to oust Mr Buhari from office.

Uche Achi-Okpaga, the spokesperson for Ohaneze Ndigbo, said the protest was “the icing on the cake” as far as the issue of restructuring of the Nigerian federation is concerned, according to a report published by Punch newspaper.

“The wave of restructuring will be tempestuous and all who stand on its way will be consumed. We just cannot thrive on a structure that has continued to move backwards,” Mr Achi-Okpaga said.

Punch newspaper reported how the Middle Belt Forum rejected the position of the northern governors on the protest.

Also, a leading group in the South-south, the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, had also rejected the claim of the northern governors that the protest was aimed at removing the nation’s president, same with the Afenifere in the South-west.

“#EndSARS was a revolt and not for regime change. It is only those fixated only on their ruling of Nigeria at all costs without a thought for its health that would only be talking of a regime in the midst of all we are going through,” the spokesperson for the Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, said, according to the Punch report.

Meanwhile, Mr Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, said the meeting with the South-south leaders was called at the instance of the president for the purpose of discussing the #EndSARS protest.

The leaders of the region demanded, among other things, the restructuring of the federation to pave the way for true federalism which they said would bring peace, security, and stability to the nation.

“We are all aware of the huge endowment of this country. As such, it is imperative to stress that with a little bit of efforts, imagination, hard work, sacrifice and leadership, every state of the Federation as of today, has the ability and capability to contribute to the national purse,” Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, who is the chairman of the South-South Governors forum, is quoted to have said at the meeting, details of which were published by PREMIUM TIMES earlier.

Among those present at the meeting were: Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State; Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State; Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State; and Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.

Others were Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta; Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum; Goddy Agba, Minister of State, Power; Festus Keyamo, Minister of State, for Labour and Employment; Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health; Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information.

The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi was, however, absent at the meeting.

Northerners always have the belief that endsars was meant to remove President Buhari from public office.

That had been their thinking from the onset.

They feel the south want to remove President and restructure Nigeria.

They believe that endsars was the rally ground to achieve that aim.

The Inspector General of Police statement seems to confirm why President Buhari took the action he took to kill protester at Lekki.

BUHARI SAW IT AS A COUP AGAINST HIS GOVERNMENT TO OVERTHROW HIS GOVERNMENT.

NORTHERNERS betrayed the south by not fully participating in the endsars protest.

Did the present president followed this process when he leagued with co-conspirators in Dec.1983 to remove the democratically elected government of President Shagari via a military coup?

What was his intent when he was threatening with inflammatory statements prior to 2015? What about Amaechi's threat of forming a parallel government if his party loose the 2015 election?

I was part of June 12 1993 riots to ensure MKO Abiola's mandate is restored against all odds because the tyrannical government of Abacha which the current president was part of then is not and will never listen to any constitutional provisions let alone acknowledged any human rights. So stop defending evil.

Hence the peaceful and coordinated protest before it was hijacked by govt sponsored thugs and hoodlums.
The president of Chile recently resigned due to the death of 2 protesters but African sit tight rulers will rather die in power than honourably resign.

It is not an offense if they follow the constitutional process of removing the president. However, it becomes an offense when they attempt to remove the president through insurrection.
the masses have a fundamental right to protest even if the protest was targeted at Buhari was it a crime, everywhere in the world when leaders fail they resign, you all make it sound like it's an abomination for a clueless and corrupt president to resign, secondly you can't put every protester in one basket some where more focused on police brutality , others on the cost of governance, some on corruption, so when this fools just speak like buhari completing his stupid presidency is more important than the lives and wellbeing of Nigerians, you know just how evil they are.

This IG just mad sha. Even if the youths are calling for his resignation, is it a crime?? Any leader that isn't effective should be shown the door. These people make it sound as if protesting and making demands is an act of terrorism.
imagine them calling protesters terrorists.. whilst their region is being bombarded with not just terrorists but bandits, kidnappers, killer herdsmen and infamous boko that has been killing them since 2010.

Since power intoxicates, many rulers tend to become undemocratic once they attain it.Many of them have been forced out from office via coups, protests, insurrections or even willful resignation.

However, many leaders in our settings have no shame or integrity hence tend to only cling unto power even till death even when it is clear they not wanted.Human rights is fundamental.Any govt that wilfully violate human rights ought not to exist.
So true!

They started with end sars. The President obliged and ended sars then they brought 5 demands.

Then they came with 5 demands. The President agreed to the 5 demands and even started implementing some.

They they said end sars was only a metaphor and that they were protesting against bad governance, and then some of them said what they wanted actually was end buhari.

They continued in the streets, sometimes blocking roads and preventing those who were not interested in joining the protests, from having access to the roads.

The Nigerian media called all of these a "peaceful protest"

The entire Nigeria media/celebrities/ popular figures didn't have the guts to call the protest for what it was, out of desperation to be seen to "be on the side of the poeple",

Mostly for business gains.

In conclusion there were 3 major groups of people in the crowds during the end sars protests;

1. Those who actually sought a genuine end to sars and police brutality.

2. Those who were sponsored by opposition politicians and anti-Buhari elements to destabilize the country even if for a few weeks.

3. Thugs hired by Government personalities to create anarchy within the crowds thereby giving Government the impetus to disperse the protesters.

Unbiased opinion. Kudos
