Pls while practicing android development, I came across using support libraries

In my tutorials, the support library were

android support v7 but the one supported by my android studio was androidx.app.widget.appCompat

I tried creating my app like that but it refused to work on my device...

Any idea how I can solve this?

support would soon be if not already deprecated.

androidx is the new support, your tutorial is very old.

Support libraries are deprecated. Use androidx.
Support libraries are confusing most time.

you can add the support library to the build.gradle file

Wat error are you getting? Give detailed information and share ur app's build.gradle file

But the error is not from the code
It’s just that the app refused to run on my phone when I added a support library

I guess it's crashing.
Did you check the LogCat?

Sorry for the late post... The error was because i used the include tag in my XML
