Instead of slashing their salaries, create a State Bulk Purchasing Board or Agency and redeploy them there to focus on export crops. If the government guarantees to buy from them and exports it, the Government gets paid in dollars and the civil servants become useful and wealthy too. |

This is what happens when a state has little or no IGR, instead they prefer to collect handouts from Abuja |

This year, Inflation rose 70%, see them cutting salaries of the masses by 50% They should look in the Political sector, those officials are national placeholders - all they do is hold seat. |

tot: I think we can agree that Ghana, with a tax to gdp ratio of 24% has no problem paying salaries compared to Nigeria with a tax to gdp ratio of 5.8% The problem with the Nigerian government , past and present , is not that they are incompetent in governing, but that they are incompetent in taking our one talent and making it into twenty. Good evening. |

There are some states that are viable to stand as a state. The reality has come. I will suggest that many of the political appointment such special advisers be reduced, member of the state assembly salaries be reduced drastically so that the state can make some saving to float for time being. It unwise decision to cut the civil servant salaries while the political appointees salaries remains unchanged. That will not work. |

How can the state workers see reasons with the government when on daily basis they keep dishing out appointment letters every day to politicians and still yet complain they can pay salaries. Imagine in just 5years people you know that can hardly feed have massions and properties everywhere across the country just because they have joined politics and have aligned themselves with the government of the day. I weep for the masses walahi! You can't be living a life of affluence, from government funds, and expect someone that can't have three meals a day to agree to feeding once daily. This is wickedness I tell ya! Bunch of criminals in agbada. 1 Like |

Niger state should first publish what an average civil servant earn in Niger state before implementing such a harsh policy. If for instance a civil servant earns 50k half of that amount will be 25k, what is the value of 25k vis a vis the cost of living currently in the country. This people should face reality they are not ready to cut down their own cost but are bent on worsening the conditions of already impoverished lots. Spits on such thrash policy. |
