Acn Has Scared Pdp Out Of Lagos –fashola ! by wales(m): 6:29am On Mar 22, 2011 |
Lagos state Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola on Monday said the popularity and performance of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has scared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) out of Lagos State. He noted that members of the rulling party even found it difficult to campaign. Fashola who made the observation during a political rally in Ikorodu area of the state also urged the citizenry to dump the party in the forthcoming elections saying, “their leaking umbrella is incapable of protecting the interests of Nigerians when the need arises.” While reeling out some of his achievements in the past four years, the Governor also disclosed plans by his administration to expand the Ikorodu Road Expressway to a six-lane as well as construction of Bus Rapid Transit Scheme (BRT) to the axis. The governor said the Ikorodu–Lagos expressway hitherto plagued by traffic jams would be expanded from four to six lanes. He disclosed, “this would include the BRT lanes to help ease the burden of traffic borne by Ikorodu people.’’ He said the state has delivered on its promises in 2007 to the people of Ikorodu with the construction of about 31 roads, some of which are still ongoing. He continued:“Our 2011 budget includes the construction of 28 roads in Ikorodu and will all be completed before the end of this administration. `We are aware of the diversion of cars especially heavy duty vehicles from Lagos-Ibadan expressway to Ikorodu to link with Sagamu expressway as a way of avoiding traffic thus putting pressure on Ikorodu roads.’’ The governor assured the people that if voted for a second term, the first term performance would be a child play compared to what Lagos people would witness. Victory for the ACN next month, Fashola promised “will translate to more dividends of democracy for the people,” enthusing, “you haven’t seen anything yet.” As part of measures to ease transportation and limit pressure on the roads, Fashola said the state has added four new jetties to the Ikorodu –Badore/Victoria Island water route. “The new jetties have a speed of about 17 minutes as against the previous speed of 27 minutes of former jetties” he said, informing that the state has embarked on regional town planning of how Ikorodu would be in the next 25 years. Fashola, blamed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP led Federal Government for the underdevelopment in the country and urged the people to churn all antics and overtures by PDP in the coming April polls but vote massively against them, “because PDP is a virus that must be thrown out to where they belong.” Earlier in his speech, the Lagos State Chairman of the ACN, Chief Henry Ajomale urged the people to shun violence in the April polls. “We should vote and defend our votes but not through violence’’ Ajomale said. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2011/mar/22/national-22-03-2011-07.htm |

Running a territory of 17+ million people on a shoestring budget ($2.5 billion or whatever the amount is), and running it well is impressive. Kudos, Fashola. |

Fashola has done well generally, but his fear of PDP is real. Ikorodu where he spoke, is a PDP area. |

Voting for PDP in Lagos state is like voting for calamity like tsunami If PDP wins in Lagos, Lagos go spoil oooo They have nothing good to offer than greedy leaders, unemployment, poverty, low standard of living, darkness, injustice, insecurity, inadequate health care, poor education system, looting of national treasure etc. As far as Lagos is concerned, PDP can never win, if they like, let them go and rig it in hell, they wont win still. |

PDP cannot be underestimted. If Fashola does not perform well in his second term, a PDP candidate might just steal Lagos away from ACN. |
