Insecurity: Foundation for Civilian Peace in Nigeria Moves To Promote Civil-Military Engagement

The drive to improve the security situation in the country and promote civil -military engagement has prompted some patriotic Nigerians to establish Foundation for Civilian Peace in Nigeria (FCPN).

The Foundation for Civilian Peace in Nigeria was born out of the zeal of peace loving, responsible and patriotic citizens to support government and security agencies in ensuring peace and stability of the country.

FCPN aligns with the thought of Martin Luther King, Jr. that: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” It has been observed that spread of hate speeches, fanning of ember of ethnicity division and religion intolerance are the root causes of insecurity in the country. From Insurgency, banditry, herdsmen/farmers conflict, rural violence are traceable to three key elements highlighted.

Hence, the Foundation for Civilian Peace in Nigeria will be engaging different stakeholders to train them on usage of conflict sensitive languages/tones in its bid of 'Securing peace for the nation'. According to former United States President,
John F. Kennedy: ''Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures.''

Therefore, the foundation will also collaborating with NGOs, Community based organizations, National and international organizations to disseminate the antidote of insecurity in the country which involves sharing of message of love, oneness and brotherliness among Nigerians.

Apart from that, FCPN due to the understanding of the nation's security terrain plans to facilitate regular civil-military engagement in order to get moral support for military officers who are working tirelessly to secure our country.

Moreover, the Foundation of Civilian Peace in Nigeria think-tank comprising security experts, retired military officers and Alternative security consultants are expected to work with *Field Security Monitors* in all 774 local government areas to gather intelligence and escalate necessary details for prompt response/actions. The Foundation believes that Conflict prevention is best option towards achieving sustainable peace and stability across the country. To this end, the think-tank will regularly collate reports on Crisis Anticipation, Crisis Early Sign,
Crisis Early Response, and
Crisis Analysis, Prevention and Management options to prevent breakdown of law and order.

No doubt, the poor management of #EndSARS agitation led to arson, killing, looting and hijack of the protest by hoodlums and end of the state to score cheap political points but with the launching of Foundation of Civilian Peace in Nigeria come December 8, 2020; we shall open new phase to achieve sustainable peace and stability in our dear country.

The FCPN under the Chairman of Board of Trustees, CDR Manu Yagdah (Rtd) are new set of Change Agents for a building a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous nation.
