Specifically, which varies in different ways depending on if the student is a foreigner or a permanent resident.

For admission into the undergraduate level, the student must have completed twelve years of academic education. But for the postgraduate level, it is sixteen years.

All applicants into undergraduate programs must submit:

A completed application form;
An official high school transcript (or attested copy) (if applicable);
Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended (if any);
A detailed chronological résumé to demonstrate educational achievements, work experience, progression, community involvement, volunteer experience, and other related experience; and
A Letter of Intent (LOI) that clearly explains why the applicant is applying and outlines the student’s academic intentions.

Applicants who completed high school or any post-secondary study outside Canada must also submit:

Documentation confirming their high school completion was awarded, if not already indicated on official transcripts; and
Proof of English language proficiency.

Finally, it is crucial for you to know that the major languages used in Canada are English and French. But most of the universities offer courses in the English language. So you need to show your efficiency by means of English Language tests.

IELTS is the most generally and accepted English proficiency test in Canada, though, some universities and colleges also recognize TOEFL. The score that you must obtain in these language tests is not the same  from institution to institution and course of study.

Some universities even seek for another medium of English language test assessment.

For MBA, candidates may be asked for two years of work experience before being admitted to the university. And sometimes GMAT is compulsory for MBA students

How do I Apply and Obtain a Canadian Study Visa?
You may need to give your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) when applying for a visitor visa, study permit or work permit.
You can give your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) at the Canada Visa Application Centre in your local country.
Read complete information on visa/permit requirements on the IRCC website and download the appropriate application forms and checklist relevant to the purpose of your visit. Please refer to the “Prepare your Application” page to obtain details on visas/permits.
Fill out the application form and other relevant documents. If you are unable to provide all the supporting documents as mentioned in the official IRCC document checklist, you are required to fill out and sign the waiver form and attach it with your application form.
Failure to provide a completed and signed waiver form may result in additional delays or refusal of your application for a visa, permit or travel document.
Mandatory requirement: Read the privacy policy, fill out the CVAC consent form and attach it with your application form. If a completed and signed CVAC consent form is not included with the application, we will not be able to assist you and will be obligated to return the application to you.
Pay visa fees as per instructions in the IRCC fee list.
Visit your local Canada Visa Application Centre (CVAC) and make sure you bring your passport, photographs, completed forms and all supporting documents as per checklist and IRCC fee instrument. Applicable CVAC service charges will be levied.
Once you are at CVAC, pay the service charges, hand your complete application and obtain a receipt. This receipt contains your unique tracking number which you will need to track the progress of your application online.
